The Renaissance Faire
7th Grade Trip to the Renaissance Faire
Students, Chaperones, and Teachers from Log College all had an amazing time at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire. This interactive, hand-on field trip allowed students to experience life in a 16th Century English village. During our visit, students gained knowledge of medieval armor, witnessed the sport of falconry, and cheered their champion at the Tournament Jousts, all while interacting with nobles, knights, peasants, and of course Queen Elizabeth.

Fall sports were in action this past week. Below are a few pics....
Log Football Wins Its Second Game
The Eagles, Phillies, Flyers, 76ers (pre-season version), Penn State, and Temple couldn't get it done, but Log Football came back from an early deficit to defeat Tamanend Middle School in an exciting performance.
The Fall Dance
Our annual Fall Dance will be held on October 17. Tickets will be sold on October 15-16 during student lunches. The dance is an outdoor event (unless weather pushes us into the gym). Students should dress for the weather. How to dress? There is a pretty wide spectrum of outfits. Some students dress like they are going to prom, some wear Halloween outfits, and others dress like they are going to school like any other day. We are ok with it all, just be appropriate and dressed for the weather in case it is chilly at night!
This is a highly attended event, and we STRONGLY ENCOURAGE CARPOOLING!!!!!
We've included the Fall Dance permission slip below; we will also distribute them to students on 10/13.

The students who are selected set the bar high and exemplify the traits of scholarship, cooperation, kindness, and hard work among others. Please congratulate Emmalynn P., Jack E., Julianna M., David L., Iman L., Robert W., Josephine S., Andrew A., Sydney M., Evan S., Tommy Q., and Kayla N. for being selected as September’s Students of the Month!
Mini-Thon at WTHS
200 Club
Log College Middle School has a robust PBIS program, which rewards students for Living Safely, Owning Responsibility, and Giving Respect. Central to our PBIS program is the Principal’s 200 Club. Students caught doing the right thing receive a 200 Club card from a staff member, after which they go to the office to draw a number that will then get their name on the 200 Club board. When there are 10 names in a row on the board, those students are the lucky winners of some great prizes! On October 1st, our board hit for the first time this year! Congratulations go out to Gia M., Alexis S., Evan C., David R., Rokshonabonu R., Nick B., Oliva O., Jesse K., Robert W., and Marcello D. for being the lucky 10! In addition to our 200 Club board winners, we also have a random drawing each month of students who received tickets. Our lucky winner for September is 8th grader Anthony U. Anthony truly embodies Living Safely, Owning Responsibility, and Giving Respect, as he was kind enough to pick something to give to his little sister in elementary school! What a great big brother! Congratulations once again to all of our winners, and keep up the good work everyone!
Safety in the Science Lab
Exploring Science Safely and Creatively in 6th Grade
Sixth grade scientists kicked off the school year by diving into an engaging lab safety lesson that was anything but ordinary. Instead of simply reading rules and procedures, students put their safety knowledge into action through the Rainbow Lab. Using safe materials and guided steps, they created colorful rainbows after carefully following directions that not only reinforced the importance of safety, careful measurements, and proper cleanup, but also sparked curiosity and excitement about what science has in store for them this year.
The lessons learned during the Rainbow Lab have continued to guide students as they move through more complex activities. Most recently, they have been exploring the fascinating science behind a one-way mirror. Through hands-on experiments and demonstrations, students are discovering how light behaves when it encounters reflective and transparent surfaces. By experimenting with different conditions—like adjusting lighting and angles—they are learning why a mirror can appear reflective from one side while transparent from the other.
These investigations are not only building critical thinking skills but also encouraging students to move beyond “what” happens to understanding “why” it happens. As a culminating activity, each student is preparing a written explanation of their discoveries, demonstrating their ability to connect observations with scientific reasoning.
