"EVERY NEW BEGINNING COMES FROM SOME OTHER BEGINNING’S END.”
- Seneca
Welcome Back, CUSD.
We made it through the first week!
It’s been such a pleasure to spend time at the school sites this week, reconnecting with colleagues, chatting with parents, and watching the excitement and emotions of our students as they start their school year.
As I begin my 10th year in this role I realize that the butterflies and anticipation of a new school year never goes away. One’s role, whether it is student, teacher, administrator, or parent, changes - but the First Day of School always brings that unique combination of feelings; excitement, uncertainty, apprehension, and optimism. Adjusting back to work/school routines can be challenging, but our staff and students have been amazing!
If you have not yet done so, please take a look at our Back to School digital magazine.
In partnership with the San Diego County Office of Education and in alignment with our Portrait of a Graduate initiative, we would like to promote a Parent Series of information sessions. All programs are virtual and provided at no cost. Please see the flyer below on Parent-Focused Ed Tech. The sessions are designed to help parents become confident digital partners in their children’s learning journey. Read more about the SDCOE programs..
Please check your school site newsletters for updates and information on the upcoming back to school night schedules.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Ed Tech Parent Series
SDCOE is excited to announce the upcoming Educational Technology Parent Series, a free virtual learning opportunity open to all parents and educators across our region. This series is designed to support families and school communities in navigating educational technology and resources that empower student success.
As our educators, parents, and community come together to connect, challenge, and champion our students, we are humbled by the outpouring of compliments. What a positive testament to our CUSD family!
- Amanda Ellison was very supportive while registering through a complicated time for us this year. Thank you for all you do!
- Joanne Torres and Amanda Ellison: They have been incredible putting in extra hours and organizing support to make sure that all students are registered, staff have the resources they need, and parent concerns are addressed. Village would not be in a place to open its doors on Monday if it was not for their efforts.
- Frankie Guillen: You are the QUEEN of preschool!!! Thank you for all the phone calls, emails, and support!! You are the definition of AWESOME!!
- Jose Iniguez, Andrew Fox and Ken Rue: Thank you for helping me out over the last few weeks getting the school ready. Even when things pop up, you guys always rise to the occasion and do it with a smile. I truly apricate all that you do for VES.
- Courtney Castiglione goes above and beyond for the kids and the staff at Village Elementary! She is a rockstar mama and Village is lucky to have her!!
- Amanda Ellison is just the best!! Always had a smile on her face and is always there to help, and remembers every kids name!! She is a superstar lady!!! We love you Amanda!!
- Terri Freepartner helped me through an employee procedure that was foreign to me. She was polite, responsive, and helpful. She suggested things that I would not have known myself of thought of myself and she was patient and kind. It was an easy process with her and I just wanted to thank her in a meaningful way.
Click here to recognize an employee or volunteer who goes above and beyond to make a difference. Those who are "caught" will receive a copy of the positive words that were shared about them and a "Caught Being Awesome" decal. Please take a minute or two to brighten someone else's day!
