Alumni Spotlight: Lincoln Govelovich

The Physical Education Department would like to recognize a recent graduate who is already making a meaningful impact in our community.

Lincoln Govelovich graduated early to begin his career as an EMT with Lower Allen Emergency Medical Services. Although he has only recently entered the field, he is already giving back by sharing his knowledge and experiences with current Cedar Cliff students.

Each spring, Sports Medicine II students have the opportunity to learn from guest speakers representing a variety of health science professions. Last week, Lincoln volunteered to return to Cedar Cliff as one of those guest speakers. He, along with several coworkers, brought an ambulance to campus and led a hands-on lesson demonstrating how to apply a traction splint.

Lincoln also shared some of his experiences as an EMT and provided valuable information about pathways into emergency medicine. His professionalism, maturity, and confidence were evident throughout the presentation, and he did a fantastic job engaging students and answering questions.

We are proud of Lincoln's accomplishments and grateful for his willingness to inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals.

JROTC Raiders Team Captures First Place1

Cedar Cliff's JROTC Military Fitness Team earned First Place at the Central Pennsylvania Raiders Competition held Saturday in Gettysburg. The challenging event featured five events completed over five hours and tested participants' endurance, strength, teamwork, and resilience.

The team was led by Feron Donelan and included Carson Griswold, Jackson Griswold, John "The Unit" Speelman, Drake Reed, Joseph Santos, Greyson Carbaugh, Jack Rigling, Natasha Noss, and Sophia Morales.

In addition to the team's overall victory, Feron Donelan and Sophia Morales repeated their outstanding performances from the fall season by once again earning recognition as the competition's Individual Iron Fitness Warriors.

One of the team's most impressive accomplishments came in the 3-kilometer, 200-pound gear carry event, where they set a new Gettysburg course record with a time of 14 minutes, 1 second.

Congratulations to the entire team on an exceptional performance and for representing Cedar Cliff with determination, teamwork, and excellence.

Students Reach New Heights in Rock Climbing Unit

Physical Education students recently participated in an exciting rock-climbing unit that challenged them both physically and mentally while promoting teamwork, problem-solving, goal-setting, and personal growth.

Throughout the unit, students learned proper spotting techniques, safety procedures, and the importance of trust and communication. Before beginning each challenge, students created SMART goals focused on areas such as improving endurance, mastering spotting skills, or building self-confidence. The gym was filled with encouragement as students celebrated individual achievements and supported one another through each climb.

A major focus of the unit was ensuring that every student had the opportunity to experience success. Multiple climbing routes and challenge levels allowed students to participate at a pace that matched their comfort and skill levels. Teachers provided modifications, partner support systems, and scaffolded challenges to create an inclusive environment where all students felt safe, supported, and empowered.

Many students who were initially hesitant gained confidence as they discovered what they were capable of accomplishing. In addition to developing muscular strength, coordination, and problem-solving skills, students built resilience, perseverance, leadership, and communication skills.

The rock-climbing unit proved to be much more than a physical activity—it was an opportunity for students to challenge themselves, support their peers, and experience the rewards of determination and teamwork.

World Language Students Learn from English Learner Panel

Cedar Cliff World Language students had the opportunity to participate in a unique and engaging student panel presentation on May 27.

During the event, students heard from eight of Cedar Cliff's English Learners, who represented eight different countries and territories: Puerto Rico, Guatemala, Honduras, Egypt, Ecuador, Cameroon, Somalia, and the Dominican Republic. Panelists shared insights about their home countries and discussed the experiences and challenges they encountered when transitioning to life in the United States.

The presentation provided a valuable opportunity for students to learn about different cultures, perspectives, and personal journeys. At the conclusion of each session, World Language students were able to ask questions and engage in meaningful conversations with the panelists.

The event fostered cultural awareness, understanding, and appreciation for the diverse backgrounds that enrich the Cedar Cliff community.

A special thank you goes to our student volunteers for their willingness to share their stories and experiences. Their participation helped create an informative and memorable learning experience for all.
