They take the recycling out once a week. The Golden Recycle Bin winners are selected and announced at Golden Awards by the Student Council members.
Classroom Goals for April
Each month, every classroom sets its own behavior goal to work toward together. These goals might include things like: walking quietly and respectfully in the hallways or making good choices about who we sit with during learning and work time.
At the end of the month, classrooms that meet their goal get to participate in a Minute-To-Win-It game during our Golden Awards assembly. Take a look at the fun below!

PBIS April Student Summary
Mill Valley students continue to work hard to demonstrate their respect, their responsibility, and their kindness. At the end of each month, behavior referral (majors and minors) graphs are shared with the staff and students. We wanted to share data trends with you, as well. When teachers share the graphs with their students, they facilitate important conversations about behavior in regard to trends, noticings, and potential actions to decrease the number of behavior referrals each month.
Below are some noticings and patterns from our staff and students for April:
Third grade significantly improved their behavior from the previous month.
Referrals most often happened in the classroom followed by the playground.
Most of the majors and minors were reported as disrespectful behavior or not keeping hands to ourselves.
Referrals happen least often while walking in our hallways, in the bathrooms or during specials.
Teachers and support staff have been having conferences, using “think sheets” and implementing restorative practices to help students build their skills to resolve conflicts with peers during their recess or free time.
In addition, our students have earned 4,101Paw Prints in the month of April! As a reminder, students earn Paw Prints for being caught being respectful, responsible, or kind.

Summer Learning Academy (SLA)
2026 Summer Learning Academy Update (May 2026)
Please read on for important information about the 2026 MNS Summer Learning Academy, including All-Sport Academy, Fab Lab, June Swim Lessons, Muskego Power, Volleyball, Cooking Stories, Kitchen Quest, and Micro-Entrepreneur.
If you requested classes during the priority registration window:
Families who made requests for 2026 MNS Summer Learning Academy programs during the priority registration window can now view their child's schedule in Campus Parent. Please see the linked instructions HERE to access schedules.
A reminder that course requests were not time-stamped, and any classes with more requests than available spots were filled by lottery. Alternate course selections were then used to complete student schedules. Given the high volume of course requests, we tried to place as many students as possible in their first choices.
Due to low enrollment numbers, Elementary Music was removed as a course option. Those students who registered for Elementary Music were placed in alternate courses.
Due to high demand for the Introduction to Cheerleading course, an additional section was opened during Session 2. Although we still are not able to honor all requests due to capacity limitations, we were able to adjust many student schedules to provide this exciting new opportunity during Session 2.
Scheduling for Cooking Through Stories and Kitchen Quest is still being finalized at this time. Communication will be forthcoming when complete.
Transportation
If your student is scheduled for classes at the Bay Lane location, but you have not yet identified a transportation option (including dismissal plan such as parent pick-up, walking, etc.) please do so on the following form. This is critical information for us to report accurate, reliable numbers to Dairyland so they can reserve the correct number of buses per shuttle location. In addition, this info is needed for us to plan staffing to coordinate supervision for parent drop-off/pickup, bike riders, and walkers.
Withdrawal from SLA
If summer plans have changed and your student will no longer be attending SLA, please email john.mcewing@muskegonorway.org. Many classes are at capacity, and withdrawing your student will open up an opportunity for those on the waitlist. Thank you!
Late Registration/Wait List requests:
Beginning now, families who did not register during the priority registration window may request to be placed on the waitlist for classes. Many classes are now filled and others have limited availability. Click HERE for the SLA Catalog. Please use one of the following Google forms:
