Principal Message
Dear Parents and Guardians,
This will be our last full newsletter for the 2024/25 school year. It's been a great year with lots of learning, fun, and growth. I look forward to next year with both our returning and new students.
This past week, grade 6s finished their PATs. We had a pizza lunch on Wednesday, and on Friday, Mr. Ehnes organized our recognition of Indigenous Peoples Day, which is on Saturday.
Next week on Monday our Grade 6s are off to Jasper for their year end trip.
Our Bike Rodeo will be on June 24th from 12:30-3:00.
Students will be provided with hotdogs for lunch on this day, this is being sponsored by Chip Lake Cattle Corp.
Students will have the chance to learn and practice safe riding skills and rules of the road through a variety of stations. We will have two Peace Officers in attendance to help students learn about bike safety! Students will also have the opportunity to demonstrate their safe riding skills on a bike ride along 54 AVE.
We ask that you drop your child's bike off at the school on June 24th in the morning. Bikes can be lined up near the bike rack! Bikes must be picked up afterschool on June 24th. Children must have a helmet to participate, if you do not have a helmet please let Miss Weninger know as soon as possible (sammweni@gypsd.ca).
If you would like to volunteer on this day please contact Miss Weninger (sammweni@gypsd.ca)
Wednesday will be our last day for students and we have our year-end awards. Parents are invited to join students for a Pancake breakfast organized by School Council before we start our ceremony at 10am. Following the awards, report cards will be available for pickup.
Our school office will be open until June 27th and will reopen on August 18th. If you have inquiries over the summer, please feel free to email me at alanstoy@gypsd.ca
Have a great weekend and summer everyone.
Sincerely,
Alan Stoyles
Principal
Staffing Updates
As you may have already heard, K/1 teacher Miss Jonzon will not be returning to Wildwood School next year, as her personal life will be taking her away from the area. We are deeply grateful for the amazing work she has done with the K/1 class and her contributions to Wildwood School. We know her next school is lucky to be getting such a talented teacher, and wish her all the best.
We are currently working on recruiting a K/1 Teacher and will make an announcement as soon as we are able. Mrs. Jenna Robinson is also scheduled to return in the new year.
For our other grades next year
Mr. Ehnes will be continuing in grades 2/3
Mrs. Kowalchuk and Miss Weninger (Math and PE) will be teaching grade 4
Mr. Brophy will be teaching grades 5/6
Miss Weninger will continue to be the PE teacher for all grades and our Learning Support Teacher
Mrs. Kowalchuk will be continuing as our Reading Response to Intervention Teacher.
Attendance Update
Our automated safe arrival system has been running for a few weeks now. We are gong to make a slight update. Rather that emailing the teacher or Mrs. Vankosky directly we have created a central email. wwabsence@gypsd.ca We are asking that parents who email in absences begin using this email address as it allows us to ensure updated attendance even when teachers of the secretary is away.
Important Dates

June 24th - Bike Rodeo
June 25th - Awards 10am, Last Day of School
Spotlight on School Success: Report Cards
Report cards are one of the ways that teachers can communicate with parents about their students' progress in school. They are available online with more information available here https://www.gypsd.ca/parents-students/k-to-grade-9-reporting-and-assessment. We have also chosen to provide each student with a printed year-end report card to make sure that parents are fully up to date on their student's academic progress.
