Life on the lake, what could be better? At Hobart and William Smith, the serene environment at these small, liberal arts colleges (once separate as men's and women's institutions, now combine) offers exciting educational opportunities encouraging students to lead lives of consequences. Weaved into their curriculum, their community, and their preparation for future pathways is the value of relationships. From the start of the first year seminar course, students build relationships with classmates and a professor who serves as their mentor through their sophomore year. With a mission of developing critical thinkers, hundreds of students take advantage of paid summer research opportunities that lead to national publications and symposiums. While rigor is required in the classroom, it is also found embedded in the being of the 40% of student-athletes on campus, including 3x National Division III Men's Ice Hockey Champions. Focused on the growth of undergraduates, the strong pre-professional programs lead to 96% graduate school or employment only four months after graduation!
