Board Meetings
Board Meetings are the first Wednesday of the Month.
The location for meetings for this year will be at Lynda's house or via Zoom.
If you have something that needs to be brought to the attention of the Board, or you would like to discuss the issue in person, please contact a Board Member.
Board Meetings are open to all but only board members can vote at the meetings.
Tidbits from the President
For me, this summer will be a race to several big events, all fun. At the end of this month, I’m going to Salt Lake City to attend Handiquilter Academy. I went last year and loved it. I really enjoyed being around a bunch of longarm-ers. It is so much fun to learn new things. More ‘digital’ quilting for me. No matter what you enjoy and how long you have been perfecting your craft, learning something new is always worth it. Try a class at the NTQF this year. I took several last year and they were all great.
Speaking of the quilt show, thank you to everyone who entered a quilt. Even I made a last-minute entry of an almost finished quilt I found while organizing/cleaning my sewing room. Talk to a friend about sharing a ride to the show. Reach out to Molly if you need one of us to take your quilt to check in or pick it up at the end. Remember to buy your tickets, volunteer for the EXPO, and/or the guilds’ many positions. Just to let you know, our usual meeting place will not be available in July. The board is looking for another option and we will let you know as soon as we know. Might want to buy your t-shirt and tickets this month, if possible. See ya at the raffle tables…
Program This Month
June 17 Meeting
June meeting: We will have our second Debbie fabric raffle!
Please be sure to invite your friends and fellow quilters for this wonderful opportunity.
We had a lot of fun at the December raffle, and this is a great fundraiser for our guild. Raffle tickets will be bundled in $5, $10, and $20 packets. Tickets go on sale at 6:00, and the fun starts at 6:30.
We will take a break halfway through, so please bring a snack to share.
Upcoming Programs
Followup on Last month's meeting
Your newsletter editor is dragging her feet getting the handouts from the April meeting published. No justifiable reason, it just hasn't happened yet.
July 15 Meeting -- LOCATION CHANGE
Because the church will be having Bible School the week of our July meeting, the building will not be available for our use. Watch for an announcement of location.
August 19 Meeting
English Paper Piecing by Lynda Eliades. She has a great program and there will be a workshop on the Wednesday after the meeting. I will have more information at the meeting.
September 16 meeting
September's program will be our own Dorene Joyce. She will be presenting 'Threads of Inspiration-a journey through Creativity'. There will also be a workshop.
October 21 Meeting
Danea Boquet, designer and creator of Fold&Sew quilting.
Fold&Sew is a family-owned business evolving the tradition of quilting in a fun, new, innovative way. With a patent-pending on its unique design, Fold&Sew quilts are unlike any other quilts you have encountered and are designed to be fast and simple to assemble. This makes Fold&Sew quilts ideal for novice quilters wanting to begin with a straightforward project, as well as veteran quilters wanting to create a handmade quilt in record time.
She will also be offering a workshop to teach her unique and fun quilt method.
Please support our programs and workshops.

Membership
Membership Dues are $40 per year. $35 if you are 65 or older.

NTQF 2025
Each guild also needs to provide 4 loaner quilts for the show. These are used to fill any spaces left by ‘no shows’. They are turned in and returned just like the quilts in the show (including sleeves and a label), they need to be quilts that have NOT previously been in an NTQF show. There is no age limit, no judging, and they may/may not be used. If you would like to loan us a quilt, bring a picture and get a form from Molly.

QUILT SHOW TICKETS
PRESALE PRICE IS $12.
Each guild is given an allotment of quilt show tickets to sell. Hopefully, I (Grace Stroud) will be selling tickets at our next meeting. These tickets can be had for a lower price than on the days of the show, and the guild gets to keep all of the money we make selling tickets. So please plan to buy your tickets ahead of time. Buy extras for guests you’d like to invite. Help me to not turn in any unsold tickets.
Quilt Show Booth - The Heart of the Home
We are rapidly accumulating a wide variety of handcrafted items for our booth at the North Texas Quilt Festival. Just this week, I’ve collected some aprons made from vintage patterns; several sets of placemats (including some darling snowman ones I’ve got my eye on); tortilla warmers; microwave bowls; potholders; and lots of coasters. Laurel arranged the use of the American Legion facility in Benbrook for a sew day on the first Wednesday of every month. This past Wednesday, nine ladies showed up to make items for the boutique. Coasters, jar openers, table runners, and wine totes were made. Many thanks to Cecilia B, Laurel G, Ann H, Lynda M, Sheila S, Becky A, Bev P, and Pat W.
By the way, if you have donated something to the booth, Pat and I would love to have your input about pricing. We will be pricing everything in July, using prices from similar items on Etsy and other sites. Our goal is to sell all our stuff and make as much money as possible. Everything we make goes directly to our guild.

Frayed Knots
meets 2nd Tuesday evening
Tight Knots
The June meeting of the Tight Knots Quilt Bee was held at the home of Cecilia Villa. With Summer quickly approaching, table decorations included a bright floral table topper, sunglasses , a Hawaiian lei and "whale" snack crackers. Patty Ford is out of the hospital and has moved to a rehabilitation center at The Staton. We are so glad that she is on the mend. The latest thunderstorms, hail storms, and tornadoes were the primary topics of discussion.
SHOW AND TELL: Judi showed a reversible no-tie apron made for the quilt show boutique, as well as five kitchen boas. Margo's pastel quilt is pinned and ready to be quilted for donation to JPS. Tiny scraps (that some of us would throw away!) made up a colorful lady bug quilt made by Cheri. She is so creative and a true Bonnie Hunter convert. Cecilia showed four aprons made for the boutique; each made from a vintage pattern. Each even has an extra bonus in the pocket! You will have to visit the quilt show to find out what it is. Chris made several items for the quilt show boutique including a table runner, potato bags, and coffee cup cozies. And prolific Pat W. showed a "watermelon" rug, patriotic table runners, and placemats made using a method that looks like old braided rugs. (I still don't understand how she did it, but they sure are pretty!) And guess what? They will be available in the quilt show boutique.
Have you noticed a theme here? Yes, our little bee is working hard to support the Fort Worth Quilt Guild Boutique. Bee members Grace Stroud and Pat Wagers are in charge of the booth this year. Both have been busy all year working on projects to be sold. With the theme being "The Kitchen is the Heart of the Home", all items are made for use in the kitchen. Money made from the boutique will be used to help pay for speakers and workshops for our guild. Contributions are gladly accepted from any guild member or friend or relative of a guild member.
Cecilia served homemade peach dump cake with vanilla ice cream. No June birthdays to celebrate. Our monthly Left-Right-Center game was for "beachy, summer" themed fat quarters. Peggie was the lucky winner.

Start a BEE
One of the most fun parts of belonging to a Guild is getting to know other quilters. But, there aren’t many opportunities to actually get to SEW and learn from one another, except in a bee. Most of the guild bees have been around for many years and don’t have openings for many newcomers. If you want to get know more of your fellow members, start a new bee!
General Guidelines
- Start with the people sitting near you at Guild or advertise in the bee section of the newsletter, or on the FB page.
- A place to meet: dining room table, living room, playroom, apartment clubhouse, nearby church… You may want to rotate hosting among those with enough space.
- Monthly meeting time for 1.5-4 hours. Some groups may also have periodic all-day project days or retreats.
- Some groups organize around a common interest: appliqué, modern, art, charity projects, while some are based on proximity.
- Start simply and see how the group’s dynamics play out through time. There are lots of activity ideas online.
Quilts Of Valor (QOV)
The sew day at Hollis Threads on May 22 was very productive. With the blocks made that day and the ones turned in at the May meeting we have enough to make two more quilts. Thank you to those who came and made blocks. The Veteran who received his quilt that day was very pleased. Pictures were posted on our Facebook page.
Three of Linda Roeders’ children received QOV’s at a small ceremony at her home on May 24th. She pieced each of their quilt tops, making them even more special. Her two sons served in the Army and her daughter served in the Air Force.
This brings our total QOV quilts to 117 since we officially started three years ago. That’s
a lot of comforted veterans!

Bev Ramsey Fund
Bev Ramsey was a charter member of the guild, a past president, a teacher and a friend. We lost her way too early. The Bev Ramsey fund was set up to help those in need enjoy the things she loved very much, retreats and workshops.
Lovies
If you would like to make one (or 100) take two pieces of 14" square fabric - one cotton, and one flannel. Sew them right sides together, leaving a gap to turn. Turn, then topstitch around the entire piece.
Beverly Peterson collects them at Guild meetings to give to Harris Downtown for their NICU unit.
JPS NICU Quilts (and Cancer Care Center items)
Eleven baby quilts were delivered to JPS in May. Also delivered was a bag of heart pillows for post-operation heart and mastectomy patients. Thanks to all who contributed. Keep up the good work!
Carolyn Hughes and Judi Janes
JPS Co-Chairpersons
-------
We encourage each member to read the information below just to refresh your memory about all the items you can make for JPS. It’s not just NICU quilts. They love to get baby quilts of all sizes. The NICU quilts can’t contain flannel, but other quilts can. A new item added to the list is a wheelchair quilt (approximately 36 x 48).
Our donations are really appreciated by JPS, the moms, and any other patients who receive them.
NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) Quilts
One of our community service projects is making NICU quilts for John Peter Smith Hospital. NICU quilts are 36” x 36” prewashed cotton quilts -NO Flannel. These are placed on the incubators in the intensive care unit and become the property of the baby/baby’s family. As some of you may know, the Tight Knots Quilt Bee makes NICU quilts each year as one of their community service projects. Maybe your bee would consider doing the same.
JPS has also requested other items for their patients:
Baby Items:
Receiving blankets and baby quilts – of all sizes
Layettes and Isolettes no smaller than 52”x56”
Cozy Cub Slipcover (tubular coverlet) See the link below for a sample of this item. 40 inches long
9 inches – circumference for small
11 inches – circumference for large
CozyCub–Dandle.LionMedical www.dandlelionmedical.com
Adult Items:
These items are mainly used for patients undergoing chemotherapy at the JPS cancer center and geriatric patients.
Bags to hang on walkers
Adult quilts or blankets (quilted or fleece)
Wheelchair quilt (approximately 36 x 48).
Ostomy bag covers
Small heart-shaped pillows for breast cancer patients to place under their arms after surgery
New request — bags that can be attached to walkers to hold keys, water bottles and other small items.

Help your Newsletter Editors !!!
After working with Smore for a while, we have run into limitations of the formatting available to us. It is easiest if the information is sent either as text, JPG or JPEG pictures. We can attach PDF, Word, and XL documents to the newsletter, but they will appear as links and the reader must download them to their device to read them (easier if done from a laptop/desktop). DOC files that contain text only will be copied into the newsletter, but some of the formatting may be lost.
I would like to share pictures of show-and-tell items, but we must have someone willing to take pictures and email them to the guild email address.
If you are unable to bring your project to the meeting for Show and Share, send a picture to the guild address - with subject - Newsletter show n share. We can include a brief description
