One Man's Trash Is Another Person's Treasure
We need your help! In the month of March, students will become engineers. The students will have the opportunity to construct the 4th Little Pig's home. With that being said, we would love to collect your recyclables! Students will be using these materials to engineer the most durable house to save the 4th Little Pig from the Big Bad Wolf. We would be happy to start collecting materials as soon as possible. Here are some materials we are in need of:
- Cardboard boxes
- Egg cartons
- Toilet paper/paper towel rolls
- Styrofoam
In-School STEAM Field Trip
First, what is STEAM? STEAM stands for: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics.
During science, we will have a special visitor from Aberdeen Proving Ground join us! An engineer will teach students about the reflections of light. Students will be able to make their very own kaleidoscope!
Spelling
Spelling homework is not mandatory, but it is encouraged. Students should continue practicing their weekly spelling words at least 2-3 times a week in their black/blue spelling journal. View the picture to see some activities they can complete to help strengthen their skills.
Math & Reading Homework
Homework is not mandatory, but here are some activities we encourage at home:
Reading: Please read with your students for at least 10-15 minutes each day to strengthen early literacy skills. YouTube even has read-alouds of first grade stories that students can listen to.
Math: Each day, students are encouraged to take home math worksheets that we worked on during class. Students can practice these additional problems.
