What is Title 1?
As a Title 1 Distinguished School, the goal is to provide instructional services and activities which support students in meeting the state's challenging performance standards.
Title 1 of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) provides financial assistance to state and local education agencies to meet the needs of children based on the number of free and reduced lunch counts.
Who is Eligible?
Title 1 is a school wide program with a purpose to improve the entire educational program at RPS. This means that all enrolled students are eligible for and benefit from Title 1 services, not just those that qualify for free/reduced meals. By law, the school system will ensure that strong strategies are in place to build capacity in parents as partners, and to support parents in attaining high student achievement in class, and at home.
Title 1 Budget
- smaller classes or special instructional spaces
- additional teachers and paraprofessionals
- opportunities for professional development for school staff
- a variety of supplementary teaching methods
- an individualized program for students
- additional teaching materials which supplement their regular instruction
- technology
- parent and family engagement in children's' education
At RPS, we use our Title 1 funds to provide:
- media center paraprofessional for students
- academic coach and instructional supplies for teachers
- parent involvement coordinator and parent resource room for parents
Professional Qualifications
- whether the teacher met state qualifications and certification requirements for the grade level and subject being taught.
- whether the teacher received and emergency or conditional certificate through which state qualifications were waived
- what undergraduate or graduate degrees the teacher holds
- you may also ask whether your child received help form a paraprofessional, and information about their qualifications
Assessments & Curriculum
At Ringgold Primary, our students are assessed several times a year to ensure they are learning the state adopted standards from the Georgia Standards of Excellence. Results from the various assessments are used to identify those students who are not mastering the standards and to provide teachers with feedback about instruction. As a whole, the data gathered from these tests help our school identify our strengths and our weaknesses so that we can establish priorities and goals in planning our educational programs.
Currently, RPS administers the following assessments:
- GKIDs for Kindergarten
- NWEA MAP Math for 1-2
- NWEA MAP Reading & Amira Fluency for K-2
For more information about the MAP assessments visit https://www.nwea.org/
Our curriculum and instruction supports evidence-based instructional practices and strategies for differentiated, innovative, and effective teaching and learning based on the state-adopted standards in support of a balanced curriculum for the whole child. This year we are using:
- Heggerty, UFLI, and Benchmark Advance for English Language Arts
- GaDOE Units for Math
You can access your students grades, attendance, and reports on the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. If you need help creating an account or using the Parent Portal, please click HERE for more information.

Policies are jointly developed with parents to guide what we do in parent & family engagement. We welcome your recommendations on these policies at any time. Policies will be discussed at the Fall and Spring Parent Advisory Council Meetings and are available all year on our website and in the Family Resource Room.
You can review these using the link posted above.
School Family Compacts
Each Title 1 school jointly develops, through meaningful consultation with parents, a family-school compact that outlines how families and schools will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership to help children achieve the state’s high standards. (This agreement is now included in the school's Parent and Family Engagement Policy on pages 2-3.)
You can view the School Family Compact anytime on our school's website or in the Family Resource Room.
