Happy Monday!

Dear HMS Families,

We hope you all had a great week! We had a lot of things going on as we got back into the swing of things after Thanksgiving break.

While we are not sure what the weather is going to bring tonight or the next couple of weeks, we do hope that you consider joining us for the Hockinson Tree Lighting tonight. It's always one of our favorite events to attend.

With Kindness,

Bess & Sid

A message from Mr. Loper about our annual food drive...

I just wanted to thank you all for the food your children have been bringing in to support our food drive and help those families in our community in need of food assistance. In these difficult economic times your help and sacrifice is truly appreciated. Our school’s current total donation stands at 2091 items which is nearly half-way to our school goal of 5000 items. Thank you!

Next week our bonus points items for the Homebase competition are canned meats and crackers on Tuesday followed by condiments and salad dressings on Friday, but any food of any type is always a huge help. And another day of Campbell’s “bombs” will be happening on Thursday. The students really enjoy delivering the Campbell’s cans to other classrooms for negative points. I encourage you to ask them about it.

If you’re out shopping this weekend please consider adding a few more items to your cart for our food drive. A little help from a lot of us will go long way to making a big difference. Thanks so much again and enjoy your weekend.

Athletic Directors Corner

As we wrap up the winter season, I want to send a huge thank you to all of our athletes, coaches, and families for another successful season! Wrestling has one last week where our wrestlers will have an opportunity to compete in their postseason tournament. I have enjoyed watching everyone compete each week and seeing success on and off the courts/mat. I hope that all of our athletes continue to participate in other sports and activities this school year.

We will have our End of Season Sports Awards on Monday 12/15 in the main gym from 4:30 - 5:15. All athletes and their families are encouraged to attend as we celebrate individual and team accomplishments.

12/11 Round Robin Tournament - Coweeman Middle School

12/13 District Championship Tournament - Woodland High School

Upcoming Sports Registration - Boys Basketball

Boys basketball registration is currently open and tryouts will begin January 26th. Please make sure that your athlete has a current physical on file, and all forms are signed through FinalForms prior to the first day of tryouts.

Boys Basketball is open to 7th and 8th grade students. We will have 3 teams and not all athletes who try out will make a team.

Holiday Resources

Hello Hockinson Middle School Families!

This year we are excited to be able to expand the resources we are able to provide to families in need. Attached you will see a Holiday Resource Guide that goes over all the different ways we are able to provide support this year. Additionally, our annual Christmas Giving Tree is now live in the HMS Office. This year all tags will be gift cards to various stores in the area as that is the most in-demand need from our families.

Please feel free to come grab a tag and return the item by December 15th!

Thank you and feel free to reach out to me with any questions! Have a great holiday season! Ben Nelson (Ben.Nelson@Hocksd.org)

Upward Together: HSD's New Strategic Plan & Data Dashboard

Hockinson School District has launched a new Strategic Plan to guide our work through 2030, along with a new online Data Dashboard that tracks progress toward district goals using clear, measurable indicators. Hockinson schools are on an upward trajectory, together. We’re proud of the progress made through strong community partnership and input. The work doesn’t stop here!

In this video, Hockinson High School students were asked what their school’s tagline, “Elevate,” means to them. Whether it’s Elevate or Upward Together, HSD is ascending.
