St. Francis de Sales

Today we witnessed the canonization of the first millennial saint, Carlo Acutis, the Italian teen computer programming prodigy known as the “patron saint of the internet.” Spreading the Gospel and documenting miracles online, he continues to remind us that saints are not a relic of the past. We are still called to holiness and sainthood in the 21st century. He has shown us that technology can be used to bring glory to God, instead of distracting us from God.

Having studied the life of St. Carlo Acutis as an Archdiocese last Spring, all of our schools will now celebrate his canonization together! This Tuesday, all of our students will be invited to enjoy "free dress" wearing their favorite sports gear - recognizing Carlo's love of sports. Students will also have the opportunity to use a variety of mediums to create digital posters, short videos, artwork, or even a mini "Eucharistic Miracles" exhibit modeled after Carlo's project.

Oh God, Our Father, thank you for giving us Carlo, a life example for the young and a message of love for everyone. You made him become enamored with Your Son Jesus, making the Eucharist

his “Highway to Heaven.” You gave him Mary, as a most loving Mother, and, with the Rosary, you made him a poet of her tenderness. Receive his prayer for us. Above all, gaze upon the poor, whom he loved and helped. Grant for me too, by his intercession, the grace that I need.

And make our joy fulfilled, placing Carlo among the saints of your Church,

so that his smile may shine again for us in the glory of your name.

Amen.

During the week of September 15th, Terra Nova testing will be administered to students in Grades 2 through 8. Taking tests can be hard work – requiring lots of energy. We recommend that students get plenty of rest and eat a nourishing breakfast and lunch on test days. Please be sure to have your children arrive at school on time. In addition, we would ask you to schedule routine doctor/dentist appointments away from next week. Please note: homework assignments will be minimal during test week. Most importantly, don`t forget to ask your child(ren) about the testing each day. Thank you!
