Welcome Back to School
Health Room News You Can Use
Welcome to the 2025/2026 school year!
Cindy and I are looking forward to seeing returning and new students here in Neidig's health room. In this newsletter, I will be going over some beginning of the year information for parents. As always, please feel free to reach out to either of us with any concerns or questions you may have. Keeping your student healthy is our top priority as healthy students learn better in school.
Dental and Physical Screening Information
Students entering kindergarten and third grade are required to have a dental exam and physical exam on record at school. Please send a copy of this to the school nurse either on paper or via email. Exams must be dated AFTER July 1, 2024 in order to count for this school year. I am working on getting the dental van back to Neidig and will send paperwork to students in those grades who do not have a current dental exam on file. At this time we will be offering the free dental van services to students in kindergarten and third grade who do not have a current dental exam on file. Depending on the need, we may then be able to offer it to other students on an as needed basis. Look for more information in the upcoming weeks.
Medications At School
All efforts should be made to give daily medications at home, but we know there are exceptions to this. If your student must have a dose while at school, please complete the following paperwork. It must be signed by a parent and the prescribing physician and the medication should be delivered to school by a parent in the original pharmacy bottle with the label attached. You can scan the QR code for a copy of the form. Please be advised that students are not permitted to carry medicines on their person at any time. Students may bring asthma inhalers, diabetic supplies and epi pens to school to be given to the nurse. The same forms should be filled out for these medicines.
Student Assistance Program (SAP) at Neidig
Please read important information regarding this program here at Neidig. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us at school.
NEW TO NEIDIG!!
I have been wanting to make this happen for over a year and I am happy to announce the new Neidig Little Free Pantry! Food insecurity is a huge problem for school age students and a cause that is near and dear to this nurses heart. With the help of my father, we built and installed the pantry out front of Neidig this week. A Little Free Pantry is a community-driven, grassroots initiative where a small, free-standing cabinet or structure is placed in a public space to provide non-perishable food and hygiene items to neighbors in need. Modeled after the Little Free Library concept, its core philosophy is "take what you need, give what you can," offering 24/7 access with no questions asked. Our pantry will be stocked by staff and anyone willing to make a donation and aims to reduce the stigma of needing help and building stronger communities by fostering a neighbor-to-neighbor approach to mutual aid. If you would like to make a donation, please contact me at school for guidelines on what is best to put in the pantry. Together, we can make Neidig more food secure for our students!!
Lost and Found
Do these belong to your student? If so, please have them come to the health room to claim them!
