Counselors' Corner - October 2024

Counselors' Corner- October 2024 Ellison Elementary

Ellison Families,

Happy October! It’s been wonderful to see our students settling into the new school year. The joy of watching children smile, connect with each other, and strive toward their goals truly warms our hearts.

In September, we started going into the classrooms to teach guidance lessons, which have been a highlight for us. We hope your children have been sharing what they have learned from their school counselors.

October is a busy month. Please take a look at the important dates listed below for details. As always, we are here to help; feel free to reach out via phone or email—our contact information is provided at the bottom of this newsletter.

Warm regards,

Mrs. Sills and Mrs. Jordan

Be a Leader!

Leaders lead through their words and actions. The poster from Big Life Journal (included below) shows that being a leader encompasses many traits. At Ellison, we offer many opportunities for our students to become leaders, and we encourage students to be leaders, whether in the classroom, on the playground, or in their everyday life.

SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING (SEL)

Breathe With Me, by Miriam Gates, teaches students how to use five breathing techniques to practice self-regulation. Breathing is a great tool for children to use to help them overcome some of the ordinary and/or most challenging moments in their day. Listen to the book below to learn how using breath can help children feel strong, calm and happy.
