Thank you to the Hanna Havoc for coming out to skate with some of our elementary classes.

The grade 7 class had an opportunity to meet with Paralympian Jennifer Oakes. She talked about positivity, sports, Paralympics, her journey, setting goals, and answered any questions the students had.

Hot Lunch forms will be going home this week. Please make sure that if you are paying by etransfer JCCHotLunch@plrd.ab.ca that payments are made by the same date the forms are due (March 18). We will not be able to order food for any forms that are not paid for by that date. Please also make sure you are putting the child(ren) and teacher(s) name in the memo of the etransfer.

Please note that there is NO SUBWAY Day in April so please disregard the bottom portion of the form.

The Senior High Ski Trip to Sunshine is scheduled for March 16 & 17.

2024-2025 Yearbooks are available in the office to purchase for $35.00.

We have booked a ski trip for students in grades 7-9 to Nakiska for Wednesday, March 25. This trip is open to students of all abilities and levels. All students are required to take a lesson at the hill. After completion of the lesson, students will be able to ski with friends.

The bus will leave at 6:00 am on Wednesday, March 25. We will stop for a quick bathroom break along the way before arriving at Nakiska around 9:30 am. Students will gear up in their ski and snowboard gear before starting their lessons. Students are able to either pack a lunch or purchase food at the lodge.

Please ensure that students have the proper clothing packed for the day. I would suggest a couple pairs of mitts/gloves, a pair of dry socks to put on when we arrive at the hill, ski pants, winter jacket, and multiple layers. Helmets are provided with the rental gear, a thin touque can fit under the helmet, but helmets do keep your head warm. Helmets are required for all students.

Students will have the opportunity to ski/snowboard until the lifts close. We will leave the hill at 4:30 pm and make a quick stop in Cochrane for supper (fast food). We plan to arrive back at the school by 9:00 pm.

The Second Annual Spring Art Auction is coming up! Grades K-12 are encouraged to put their artwork into the auction. The auction will run from March 31st to April 1st. The deadline for submitting artwork is Friday, March 27. Anyone is welcome to bid on the art and all bids start at $1. The proceeds go to the student SGF, which funds various school activities.

WISEST (Women in Scholarship, Engineering, Science, and Technology) 2026 Summer Research Program (SRP) applications are opening soon!

Any grade 11, female or gender-diverse students who show a genuine interest in STEM, should consider applying.

The Summer Research Program is unlike any other summer job! Female and gender-diverse students are hired for a 6-week paid internship as student researchers in STEM fields at the University of Alberta. Please note, WISEST does not provide medical placements as we focus on fields that are underrepresented by young women and gender-diverse people.
