Fall Schoolwide School Counseling Lessons:

Introduction to the “Zones”, Feelings Identification/Zone & “Self Regulation” (K-5): “Self-regulation” is an important skill that children learn to manage their emotions, behavior, and bodies when they’re faced with tough situations and big feelings. This Fall, Ms. Jessy has been using the “Zones of Regulation” curriculum to teach all Lewis students to first identify what feelings they might be having and then two, identify what “zone” they are in. Students are learning what “self-regulation” means and in future lessons, they will build on their understanding of the “Zones” and learn “tools” to help “self regulate”/or take care of themselves when they are in the blue, yellow or red zones. Students learned that all feelings are “ok” and there is no “good” or “bad” zone. As we build on our learning of the “Zones”, students will learn to use self-regulation tools to take care of themselves and get back to the green zone to do their “job of being a student” and connecting to expected behaviors and classroom learning. Below is the “Zones of Regulation” tool we are learning about and use schoolwide.

Dia de los Muertos

Friday evening was wonderful! Thank you to everyone who came to the Lewis Día de los Muertos Celebration. The ofrenda will be up in the cafeteria this week for everyone to enjoy. Students, teachers and staff are invited to add photos or written memories of loved ones who have passed away. This special evening wouldn't have been possible without Jesse Martinez and his vision for this meaningful community event. Working with a small but mighty committee - Kellie Grunde and Denise Castañon - they created a space to share delicious food, memories, crafts and a screening of Coco! Thank you to Mr. Jamesbarry for making sure the movie was ready at showtime. And, a big shoutout to all the volunteers who popped popcorn, served food, set up the ofrenda and photo booth or stayed late to clean up!

Report Cards Report Cards

  • Viewing Report Cards

At the beginning of this academic year, the district set all parents/guardians to paperless report cards. We sent home all students with paper report cards this quarter but going forward we are going to go by parent/guardian preference. You will find instructions for how to view your student's report cards moving forward HERE.

If you would like to get a paper report card after this quarter, the same instructions have directions on how to NOT be paperless.
