A few words from Dr. Crater A few words from Dr. Crater

Dear Strayer Families,

It’s hard to believe we have wrapped up our second week of school! I continue to be incredibly proud of our students as they settle into the rhythms of the school year. They’ve done an outstanding job adjusting to routines and expectations, and their positive attitudes and eagerness to learn have set the tone for a successful year ahead.

Our teachers are fully underway with engaging and creative lessons across all subjects. It’s been exciting to walk through classrooms and see students actively participating, asking thoughtful questions, and collaborating with their peers. The energy in the building is electric, and we are thrilled to see such enthusiasm for learning.

This week, our students and staff executed a flawless fire drill, demonstrating responsibility and cooperation throughout the entire process. Safety is a top priority, and I want to commend everyone for taking the drill seriously and handling it with such professionalism.

We had an amazing time celebrating our Philadelphia Eagles spirit! From green gear to team chants, the excitement was contagious and brought our school community together. Some lucky students even scored extra Eagles spirit items through our PBIS rewards program!

As always, we encourage all students to continue putting forth their best effort in the classroom and beyond. They’re already off to a fantastic start, and we’re looking forward to the weeks ahead as we dive deeper into the curriculum, launch clubs and activities, and continue fall sports.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Together, we’re making Strayer Middle School a place where students learn, grow, and thrive.

Remembering September 11, 2001 Remembering September 11, 2001

This week, we pause to remember the events of September 11th, 2001. It’s a time to reflect on the importance of community, compassion, and helping others. As a school, we encourage students to think about how small acts of kindness and cooperation can make a big difference in the lives of those around them.

We also take this opportunity to honor the bravery and dedication of first responders and the many people who came together to support one another during that difficult time. Though it is a solemn day, it is also a reminder of the strength, resilience, and unity that define our communities.

This Thursday, during morning announcements, Strayer students and staff will observe a moment of silence to remember the events of September 11th, 2001.

Spirt Day! Spirt Day!

Last Thursday, the school was buzzing with Eagle spirit (with a little Cowboys and Chiefs flair mixed in)! 🎉 As part of our PBIS rewards, a few lucky students had their PBIS tickets drawn and walked away with some awesome Eagles spirit gear! Go Birds!🦅✨

Suicide Awareness Day: September 10, 2025

This week, our school will recognize Suicide Awareness Day on Wednesday. While middle school students may seem young, it’s never too early to build awareness around mental health, coping skills, and the importance of asking for help. On Wednesday, teachers will conduct an age-appropriate lesson that highlights kindness, connection, and knowing where to turn if someone is struggling.

Our goal is to reduce stigma, remind students that they are never alone, and strengthen the message that reaching out for support is a sign of courage. We encourage families to continue these conversations at home by asking your child what they’ve learned and reminding them that it’s always okay to talk about their feelings.

We also want to remind families about the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. By calling or texting 988, anyone can be immediately connected to free, confidential support from trained counselors—24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Together, we can foster a safe and supportive community for every student. Please reach out to your child's school counselor if you have questions or concerns.

The Request for Assistance Form should be completed if you have non-urgent concerns regarding an area of your student’s educational programming that may need attention from the school team. Submission of this form does not trigger immediate intervention, but it will alert the school’s MTSS team to review your student’s data and follow up with you regarding your concern.
