Picture Retakes & Class Photos
Remmick Photography will be returning to Roosevelt on Tuesday, October 13, to take school picture retakes and class group photos.
If you would like your child to have their photo retaken, please notify their classroom teacher or the school office.
Students who were absent on the first picture day will automatically have their photo taken.
Roosevelt Chess Club (grades 2-5)
This free Chess Club will be held on Mondays in the Roosevelt library from 2:30-3:00 pm for students in 2nd-5th grade.
Space is limited to the first 20 registrants; anyone after that will be placed on a waiting list. By registering your child, you are committing their participation for the duration of the program.
The club will start on Monday, November 2 and run until Monday, March 22.
University of Mary Activity Nights at Highland Acres
Roosevelt families are invited to attend activity nights at Highland Acres that are put on by the University of Mary physical education students.
Breakfast Hours
Roosevelt school breakfast is 7:15-7:50am daily.
If your child needs to eat breakfast at school, please have them arrive early enough to be able to finish eating by 7:55am when the first bell rings. Our expectation is that students are in their classrooms by 8:00am when the school day begins.
Exceptions will be made for students who ride the bus and arrive late due to route delays.

💬Counselor's Corner
In September, we focused on listening and understanding feelings in Kindergarten & 1st. In 2nd-5th grade, we focused on responsibility and respecting differences. Please take the time to talk with your child about what they are learning with the counselor!

🏠Try It at Home: Family Challenge
~Calm down strategies: Ask your child, “What is one way you can calm your body when you are feeling a strong emotion?” Then try it with them! Here’s an easy one: 5 Finger Breathing: Trace each finger breathing in through your nose as you go up and out through your mouth as you go down.
🌱Counselor Tip for Families:
~Name the Feeling: Help children put words to emotions: “It looks like
you’re feeling disappointed. Do you want to talk about it?” Acknowledge that they are
having a strong emotion and that it’s okay to feel that way.
🏫Schoolwide Update:
We continue to meet every other week for Buddy Meetings where our small buddy groups across grade levels (K & 3, 1 & 4, 2 & 5) work and play together. Kindergarten and 3rd grade are responsible for creating meeting agendas and planning our trimester assembly, and they will begin this planning work during our October Buddy Meetings.
Roughrider Reinforcer jobs have started for those who applied from 3rd-5th grade. We have some fun new jobs this session that students are enjoying. You may have noticed students outside our school building greeting others each morning. These students are part of our "Welcome Workers" position and have themed greetings each day. Be on the lookout for a surprise "guest" in the upcoming weeks!
📝Resource of the Month:
If your student was approved for free and reduced meals and you would like a weekly bag of non-perishable food to go home most weeks, please reach out to Mrs. Misek (marisa_misek@bismarckschools.org) to get signed up for the United Way backpack program.
