Emily Kinnicutt (SASA) Earns Internship with YEO & YEO!

We are super proud and happy for Emily Kinnicutt, SASA senior, who received an offer today from Yeo & Yeo Computer Consulting for a summer internship! "This position is historically given to college juniors and seniors," said Sarah Swartz, SCC Career Placement Coordinator. Emily's instructor, Josh Fabera, celebrated Emily's offer with classmates today! Special thanks to Emily's mentor, Trevor Swartz, Auto Owner's Insurance, who meets with her virtually each week to share his expertise and experience. Clearly, Emily's technical and professional skills are shining! Congratulations, Emily!

HEATING, VENTILATION AND AIR CONDITIONING HEATING, VENTILATION AND AIR CONDITIONING

HVAC Students Are Generously Supported by Community Donors!

The HVAC students will begin installing a new air conditioning system that will be hooked up to the furnace and ductwork they installed in their lab earlier this year. This is a real-world training experience that will benefit future students in the program for years to come!

Thank you and congratulations HVAC students and staff!

Students are also learning how to use Chapter 21 metering devices. There are many types of metering devices, capillary tube, thermostatic expansion valve TXV, automatic expansion valve AXV, electronic expansion valve EXV - all restrict the flow of refrigerant to create a pressure drop between the high side of the AC system and the low side of the system. See photos of students in training below.

The HVAC students have been generously supported by many community donors! Yesterday members of the Bay Area Association of Michigan Plumbing & Mechanical Contractors dropped off almost $20,000 worth of tools and supplies for our HVAC program. At the beginning of the school year, Local 85 Plumbers, Steamfitters, and HVACR Service Techs also donated the same amount in tooling and equipment.

Pictured below are the following members of the Bay Area Association of Michigan Plumbing & Mechanical Contractors: Anthony VanDeventer of John E. Green Company, Rick Wenzlick of William E. Walter, Inc Mechanical Contractors, and Lee Burnham of W. Soule & Co.

The Bay Area Association of Michigan Plumbing & Mechanical Contractors helps to develop the mechanical (plumbing-heating-cooling) contracting industry and promotes the interest of its members through education and other activities. They are an offshoot of the Michigan Plumbing & Mechanical Contractors Association.

Special thanks to all of our community partners who donate your time, resources, and support to SCC students! We appreciate you!
