Dear Eagles,

This February, we join the nation in acknowledging and celebrating the achievements and contributions of African Americans throughout American history. Black History Month is also a time to reflect on the history of the African diaspora and people of pan-African heritage which includes the forced migration of Africans to the Americas and other parts of the world. Black history spans far beyond American history - Black history serves an integral role in world history.

I am deeply grateful for those who endured hardships we can never fully fathom to pave the way so that we could attain their heartfelt hopes and wildest dreams. Our school community will recognize and celebrate the resilience, talent, and contributions of African-Americans and people of pan-African heritage to society throughout this month. We invite you to help us highlight Lindblom students, staff, and alumni of African-American and pan-African heritage by submitting nominations via this form: https://tinyurl.com/LMSA-BHM.

Last but not least, National School Counseling Week is observed from February 3rd to 7th. Our admin team extends a resounding “THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO” to our counseling department. While teachers help build content knowledge to help students flex their intellectual muscles, our counseling department is proverbial wind beneath our Eagles’ wings… helping them fly to higher heights in a myriad ways. Our counselors help students achieve academic success, develop social-emotional skills, and explore post-secondary options and opportunities. We value their expertise in our efforts to equip our students for life beyond high school. I encourage you to take a few moments to thank a counselor this week.

Onward and upward, ~Principal Banks
