Principal Message
This week was a busy one for me as principal with lots of meetings and discussions. On Tuesday we had the second meeting of the Ad Hoc Committee on Wildwood Busing. This committee is looking at options to address ride times, pick up times, and other concerns of Wildwood parents as we prepare for next year and Grand Trunk School. Transportation Director Christine Van Neck presented options to further explore, which will now be considered for cost viability. The committee will meet again to discuss findings and plans moving forward.
Tuesday we also had our School Council meeting, parents and guardians are always welcome to attend and get updates about the school, programing and plans for the upcoming month. Our next meeting is February 10th.
On Wednesday parent volunteers prepared a pancake breakfast for all of our students and staff.
On Thursday our grade 4 and 5/6 classes had a presentation from the RCMP about community policing.
Next week we have Pizza hot lunch on Tuesday sponsored by Drax. Wednesday our grade 4-6 classes have a field trip to Blue Point Eagle Ridge. Friday is a PD day.
Other upcoming field trips to keep an eye out for permission slips are the k-3 field trip to Blue Point Eagle Ridge and the whole class field trip to Pinocchio.
Early next week I will be sending home codes for parents in grades 4-6 to fill out the annual assurance survey. This is an opportunity for parents to give feedback to the school. We use this information to help plan programing and goals for schools and the division.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out by calling the school at 780-325-3858 or emailing me at alanstoy@gypsd.ca

Alan Stoyles

School Continuous Improvement Plan : A focus on Math
As part of our School Continuous Improvement Plan we look at data of where we are doing well and where we can improve. Our focus for this year and last has been on building Math achievement in students. The summative data below shows that we are making movement in the right direction. What it does not show is the students that have moved from significantly below the markers to just below. We still have work to be done, but our students are making big gains with the focus on Math instruction.

FOPLS
Our students from Evansview, Wildwood, and Grand Trunk High School are coming together under one roof — and we want to make sure they have a playground that brings them together too!
The Friends of Pembina Learning Society (FOPLS) is running a raffle fundraiser to help create a fun, safe, and engaging space where kids can play, grow, and make memories for years to come.
Your support will help make this playground a place our children are proud to call their own!
