Linden Athletics Monthly

ALL POSITIVE - ALL ATHLETICS - ALL EAGLES - SEPT. 2022

Linden AthleticsMonthlyALL POSITIVE - ALL ATHLETICS - ALL EAGLES - SEPT. 2022

A Message From The Athletic Director

The month of September flew by and I cannot believe we are already preparing for post season tournaments in the athletic department. All of our kids continue to work hard in the classroom and during athletics, which is amazing to see. The amount of athletes that we currently have participating in sports (397 in the Fall season) and the amount of students that show up on the eligibility list weekly are drastically different! Continue to put your classwork first and athletics second, even though I understand that is hard to do sometimes, and you will continue to be successful.

My next message is to both parents and student athletes alike. We talk a lot in our schools about pausing before we post anything on social media. The power of social media is a real thing. Although the majority of things that get shared with me are positive posting about our kids and others, there always seems to be something negative as well. Please pause and think about what you are posting. Your words can really upset others, whether it be another student or another parent. We don't always have to run to social media after a contest and be negative. There is so much positive going on in our community and surrounding areas, yet the things that get focused on the majority of the time are involved with negative comments made. I read a quote recently that relates to this specifically in my opinion. "Holding a grudge is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to get sick" -unknown. Please continue to share positive thoughts and feelings via social media while pausing before you post!

This next month is going to be exciting as it will bring the close to the majority of our seasons in the Flint Metro League. Good luck to all teams and continue to do the right thing, even when nobody is watching. Go Eagles!

Enjoy!

A Message From The Coaches

"The varsity volleyball team is currently 25-4-1 and with a huge win on the road against Fenton, the Eagles stay on top of the Metro League. The Lady Eagles also traveled to Traverse City where they took 2nd in the Kalkaska tournament and did some team bonding at The Great Wolf Lodge. During the same weekend the freshman team won the Fenton tournament beating Fenton in the finals. All three teams continue to improve and work hard daily both in the classroom and on the court. The coaching staff could not be more proud!" - Varsity Coach Cori Mason

"Linden Boys XC has had a great start to the season. Currently we are tied for first in the Flint Metro League after getting a close second place at Jamboree 1 and following it up with a strong win in Metro Jamboree 2. JV can also win the League after a first and third finish at each respective Jamboree. We have a final league meet in the middle of October in which the winner of Linden/Clio will determine the League champ.

Recently, Kyke Eberhard shattered the 5k record at Linden by running a 15:20 (4:57 mile average) at Shepherd High School. The course was a true 5000 meters per the measuring wheel. His time puts him currently at 2nd place in D2." - Boys Cross Country Coach, Trevor Hall

Stuff The Bus - Linden vs Fenton Football Game on 10/7/2022

Linden and Fenton Schools have partners with FARR in the first annual Stuff the Bus Kick Off. All Linden and Fenton students K-12 will be allowed into the football game on 10/7/22 for free as long as they bring 5 cans/boxes of food to the pass gate. No other passes will be allowed for students this game and if they do not have 5 cans, they will have to pay $5 admission as that is normal price. Please plan on contributing to this great cause!

Boys and Girls Varsity Basketball @ Little Caesars Arena

Please see the information below. We are able to order tickets now and your ticket gets you into the girls and boys game including the Pistons game. Make sure to use this link in the flyer and/or contact Brandon Goebel directly if you are interested in other tickets. We will be taking on Fenton in a non-league matchup!
