A2 Virtual+ December Update
December 2nd, 2025
Principal Message
As we approach the end of the term, we want to ensure families have the information they need to help students finish strong. Below you will find important updates about end-of-term deadlines, proctored test requirements, extension and withdrawal policies, academic integrity expectations, and the continued rollout of our lockdown browser system. We also encourage families to check student progress regularly in PowerSchool, as this is the most accurate way to monitor completion, pacing, and current grades. Thank you for considering A2 Virtual+ as an online learning option for your student.
As part of our commitment to high-quality online learning, we are implementing lockdown browsers and making slight policy adjustments to ensure we maintain our accreditation and continue offering grades and credit for our online classes. Please take a few moments to review these details so your student is prepared for a successful close to Semester 1.
Warm regards,
Principal Lauer

End of Term Policies
Last Day to Submit Assignments
January 16
This is the final day for students to submit assignments for their A2 Virtual+ Semester 1 classes.
Michigan Virtual students: This is also the final day to complete all required proctored activities.
Exam Proctoring
January 20–22
This is the exam week for A2 Virtual+ classes. Students may complete their required proctored activities on any of these three days. They must be completed by January 22nd.
Proctored Tests
- All students must complete two proctored activities to earn credit for their course.
- It is the student’s responsibility to ensure this requirement is met.
- Students who do not complete both proctored activities will receive a final grade of “E” and will be ineligible to enroll in future online classes for two years.

Extensions
Extensions are reserved for students who experienced illness or extenuating circumstances that caused them to fall behind. Students must show weekly, equivalent work for all weeks outside the documented circumstance.
Official requests must be submitted using the Extension Request Form.
A signed work-completion plan is required
Requests must be submitted no later than two weeks before the end of the term.
Withdrawals
- Withdrawals are not approved for students who have not made meaningful progress in their online course.
- To be considered for a withdrawal, families must submit a completed A2 Virtual+ Withdrawal Form.
Academic Dishonesty
Incidents of academic dishonesty often increase near the end of the term. Please review our policy, which includes definitions and examples of violations, so families can support students in completing their work with integrity.
Lockdown Browsers
A2 Virtual+ uses lockdown browsers to provide a secure and consistent testing environment for all students. Most students will not need to install any additional software—the required applications have already been added to district devices.
Lockdown browsers do not collect personal information. Instead, they simply limit access to websites, applications, or other digital resources that are not part of the assessment. This ensures academic integrity and allows us to confidently award grades and credit for online coursework.
Over the next few months, we will continue transitioning more assessments to be completed using a lockdown browser.
Registration for Semester 2 and Trimester 2 Classes (Previously Shared)
All students currently enrolled in an online course must register for the next class if they wish to continue online through the remainder of the school year.
Trimester 2 courses are only available to high school students at Skyline and Pathways, as these schools operate on a trimester schedule.
Trimester 2 registration deadline: December 5
Semester 2 registration deadline: January 30
Proctoring Information (Previously Shared)
To earn credit for each course, students must complete two proctored activities per class.
The names of the required activities are posted in each student’s Schoology classroom.
Proctoring schedules, locations, and sign-up links are available in the A2 Virtual+ Proctoring and Building Support Schoology classrooms.
For 5th-grade students, support is not building-specific since they come from more than 20 schools. All 5th graders will use the general “A2V Proctoring and Building Support” Schoology classroom.
Students must complete their proctored activities using their district device.
Additional Option:
Students may also attend proctoring at Skyline High School Media Center on Tuesday evenings, 4:00–7:00 PM.
No sign-up required.
Students arriving before 6:00 PM may complete their proctored activity.

Weekly Attendance (Previously Shared)
Attendance in online courses works differently than in traditional classes. In our program, attendance is defined as a weekly two-way interaction with the teacher, completed through a designated attendance activity in Schoology every Wednesday.
If a student does not complete the Wednesday activity, they are marked as UNV (Unverified Absence) in PowerSchool.
Students may still complete the activity later in the week (through Tuesday), but late submissions may affect their grade.
Once completed, teachers update attendance with a CA (Completed Attendance) code.
Attendance is recorded every week of the term.
