Dear Southeastern Families,
I can't believe we are already moving into November! On Monday, you will find another progress report coming home with your student. This report will provide an academic update since conferences and give you a look at how your child is growing. We believe regular communication about student progress is so important, and we appreciate your partnership and support as we continue working together to help every student succeed. You will notice a signature box on the progress report. Please sign and return it to acknowledge that you have received and reviewed the update.
Our New Pavilion Is Complete!
We are excited to share that our new pavilion at Southeastern has officially been completed! A huge thank you to Kiwanis for their generous support and contribution to making this project possible. We are so fortunate to have community partners who invest in our students and school. We can't wait to see all the ways this space will be used for our students!
Check out more information here - https://www.hassk12.org/article/3221856
Thank you for your continued support of our students and staff!
Due November 6th!
UPCOMING DATES
November
11/9: Kickstart Deposit Day
11/19: PTO Popcorn Day
11/19: PTO Meeting at 3:15
11/25-11/27: No School (Thanksgiving Break)
At Hastings Area Schools a key component of our strategic plan has been our emphasis on strong foundational skills. While there is always work to be done in this crucial area of education, some recent data showed that we are certainly well on our way down the right path!
In a consortium of 18 school districts across Barry, Branch, and Calhoun counties, our elementary grades crushed it on the M-Step last year:
3rd Grade: #1 in Math | #2 in Reading
4th Grade: #3 in Reading | #3 in Math
5th Grade: #1 in Reading | #2 in Math
VOTE NOVEMBER 3rd - 2026 Bond Proposal
As you know, the Saxons are on the ballot this November with a zero tax increase bond proposal. Please check out this informational video, which explains how our schools are funded. It provides a very clear explanation on what school bonds are and how they are used.
View the video here: https://youtu.be/sH027MreP7Q?si=h7dkDzswCVI6jxDS
If you have any questions about our November bond proposal, please reach out to me or to Jayson Bussa, our director of public relations, at Jayson.Bussa@hassk12.org.
Thank you,
Dr. Nick Damico
Thornapple Players presents Annie
One of our very own Southeastern students - Grace Pollet is making her stage debut as Tessie in the upcoming Annie presented by Thornapple Players. She loves singing karaoke, and creating skits with her family.
Come hear her and the other orphans sing their hearts out this November.
The show opens November 11th and runs 2 weeks. Tickets are on sale now - https://thornappleplayers.ludus.com/index.php
YMCA Turkey Trot
I’ve attached the flyer for our Turkey Trot, a 5K race held on Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 26. We also have a School Challenge: the school with the highest participation will receive a trophy to keep until the following year. The flyer includes a discount for the first five people from your school to sign up. Please help us spread the word by sharing the flyer or social media post with your students and families. Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you so much!
