Principal's Newsletter

Thank you to the entire ACSD community for their overwhelming support of the proposed school budget for 26-27. Now that we're into March, the pace is picking up and the number of things students and staff are doing seems to be multiplying. Thank you for reading the updates and information that come home. There's a lot to keep track of.

Monday, March 2nd, was Donna's birthday! She was well celebrated with cards and songs. Here the kindergarteners are singing her Happy Birthday and giving birthday hugs.

The 1st graders have been busy doing research projects and making posters of an animal species and how it adapts to its environment. Liam did his report on tarantulas --cool!

It was also Dr. Seuss' birthday this week! Our Kindergarteners celebrated this beloved author by making green eggs and ham and Cat in the Hat hats.

Members of the Middlebury College Ice Hockey teams came one last time this past Wednesday during recess and lunch. We are very grateful for the time they've spent getting to know SCS students. We wish them well in the playoffs!

Literacy Night on Thursday evening was a great success. We had 20 students plus siblings and their parents come to play literacy games, read books in the library and make S'mores on our indoor s'more cookers. Thanks to everyone who came out to share in the literacy fun!

The SCS Read-a-thon was a success! We had over 30 students log their minutes spent reading or being read to, for a total of 10,750. Well done!

We had a nice response to the Science Discovery Club and the first session is now full. A confirmation email will be sent out this weekend to all those enrolled, and more information from Ms. Carol will be coming soon as well. There are a few more spots for 1st and 2nd graders in Session 2.
