Free Breakfast/Lunch at WMS and P-EBT Information

WMS is an all free breakfast and lunch school site. NCDHHS is providing an additional opportunity for families who did not already receive a summer P-EBT payment, to be eligible. If you haven’t received a letter indicating eligibility for the Free and Reduced Meal Program for the 2022-2023 school year and you believe you may be eligible for Summer P-EBT benefits, complete a free and reduced application by Wednesday, August 31. If your student is enrolled in a CEP school, a school where lunch is free for everyone, we encourage you to fill out an application if you may be eligible for Summer P-EBT benefits. Free and Reduced applications are available online on the Child Nutrition website and at the Child Nutrition Office.

Immunizations

As a reminder, there’s roughly two weeks left to get those state required immunizations and health checks. Remember state law says those must be completed within the first 30 days of school, or your child may be excluded. A full list of what is required for kindergarten, seventh, and twelfth graders is on our website under Student Health Services.

If you need help getting this taken care of, there will be an immunization and health assessment clinic at the Forsyth County Department of Public Health on Saturday, September 17, 2022, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Call 336-703-3200 with questions or to schedule an appointment. Immunizations must be complete by September 28, 2022.

Instructions for Student Drop Off & Pick Up

Parents who drop off and pick up students before and after school

have two ways to access our campus. Cars may enter the campus

from Darrow Road onto Walkertown School Road to the left of the

old WMS. Go to the stop sign in front of the football stadium and

turn left. Follow the road around to the circle and enter the front

parking lot via the traffic circle. Traffic should circle the parking

lot and drop off or pick up students at the front of the building.

Cars also may enter campus from Sullivantown Road. Use the sec-

ond entrance to the school (not the bus entrance, which is the first

one) when coming from Main Street to Sullivantown Road. Turn

right into the parking lot and follow the outside lane of traffic

around to the front of the building to drop off or pick up students.

Exit via the traffic circle.

Please stay in the lane that leads you to the far end of the parking

lot from the traffic circle or front entrance and then merge at the

far end of the parking lot into one lane for drop off and pick up. We

only use one lane for drop off and pick up in front of the school. Drop off time starts at 7:00 am and pick up time ends at 2:15 pm. Students will be unsupervised before and after this time which poses a safety concern.

I Love You Guys

Be aware that our emergency response terms are changing this year. You can find informational website on the district main page under Operations, School Security. Your students will also be learning about it from our staff/teachers in coming days.

Also, there is a short video you can watch by clicking here.

Code of Character, Conduct, Support

We’ve started the year working on improved climate and culture by sharing with students and parents our new Code of Character, Conduct, and Support. This outlines clear behavioral expectations for students, and showcases how we are working to be more restorative in our approach to discipline. It also illustrates how parents are truly our partners in this work and outlines ways we can all work together. While there will be school based information sessions in the weeks to come, I encourage you to look at the new Code on the Learning Supports page of our website.
