Attendance
A big well done to all of our pupils who have been in school every day this week!
We no longer give individual attendance rewards (this was highlighted by some of you in the questionnaire we sent out before summer) as we feel it can discriminate against pupils with medical conditions or high levels of need who have a number of appointments. We hope you can understand the rationale behind this.
A further reminder that no holiday in term time can be authorized. Absences can be granted in exceptional circumstances which means it is 'unexpected and unavoidable'.
This week's school attendance is: 97.5%
KS1 class of the week is 2P with 99%
KS2 class of the week is 6W with 100%
Parking message from Councillor Susan Hinchcliffe
A reminder to all parents and carers that there should be absolutely no parking down Low Ash Grove at all. This is obviously the same with the surrounding area but, as many of you will know, this street houses a number of elderly disabled people who are getting shouted at if they confront people. This horrifies me. The council has also assured me that the parking services team are once again visiting now that the new term has started, as they will continue to do on a regular basis.
Parking and driving continued
A further reminder that the school car park is only for staff. We are noticing an increasing number of parents coming into the already congested car park which potentially presents a risk. If you have a blue badge, then you are able to park in the disabled parking spaces on site.
With regards to parking and driving, we wanted to let you know that an ex-pupil of ours (currently in Year 7) got knocked down outside of school this week. Luckily he was OK but this just shows what a danger Wrose Road can present. Please be mindful when driving along this road and, if your child walks on their own, please remind them (as we will) that they should use the crossing and not be looking at their mobile phone when crossing roads.
Wrose Chapel volunteering
Some children from Year 5 and Year 6 visited Wrose Chapel yesterday to help out with their coffee morning and play some games with members of the community. This initiative was a great success last year and we are sure that this year's groups will benefit just as much.
Zarach bed bundles
Low Ash works closely with Zarach - a charity which provides free children's beds for families who cannot provide these due to financial pressures and other circumstances.
If you feel your family would benefit from this support or you would like more information, please contact the school office and ask for Mrs Kellett - our pastoral and family support worker.
Parent and carer drop ins
A reminder that we offer weekly parent and carer drop ins with our Pastoral and Family support worker, Mrs Kellett, on a Thursday morning from 9.00-9.30. If you want to discuss anything linked to routines at home, behaviour, early help support, help with form filling or signposting to advice, advice on promoting well-being at home or any other form of support, please just drop in.
September online safety newsletter
Below is a link to this week's online safety guide which is all about group chats.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend and we will see you all on Monday.
