EDIT
Greetings, Cardinals!
Things around Sun Prairie East are picking up as we near the start of the 2026-2027 school year. Students have started to return for fall sports, and summer deep cleaning is wrapping up. This week our full administrative team returned, and new teachers will be here starting on August 17th. Additionally, the student services department will be back in the office on Monday. One important change to note for this school year is that dismissal time is 3:50 PM. Additional teacher work days were added to the 2026-27 school calendar and because we need to meet instructional minute requirements, time was added onto each school day. The start time for the school day remains the same, 8:35 AM.
Sincerely,
Jim Ertel
Principal

2026-2027 Welcome Packet
Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year! Linked here is this year's welcome packet that will be distributed at registration. Please feel free to take a look at our digital copy prior to the event.
Bell-to-Bell No Cell - Year 2
Linked below is our Bell-to-Bell no Cell poster. Student and staff expectations remain the same as they were for the 2025/2026 school year. For 2026/2027 we will continue to have posters and flyers in public spaces and classrooms. “Bell-to-Bell no Cell” is the theme for our focus on increasing the use of instructional time and improving scholar outcomes. When students return to school we will have lessons prepared for SP30 and content area classes about electronic device expectations. Our top priority continues to be teaching students how to use devices responsibly and to build skills around safe and productive technology use. When you stop in for registration, please keep a look out for more information in our welcome back packets!

Error in District Newsletter
Please note that there was an error in the school district back to school flyer that was mailed to families. High school dismissal time is 3:50, NOT 3:45. The correct schedule is below.
2026-2027 Registration
All new and returning students must be registered before the school year begins. Registration at Sun Prairie East will take place on Wednesday, August 19th and Thursday, August 20th from 8:00AM - 4:00PM on both days. Please have your student(s) attend with you!
Students will be able to take their ID photo, request a parking pass, request a locker, and gain access to GoFan, our student activities app where tickets to athletic events and dances are purchased.
Support for multilingual families will also be available! If you have any questions or concerns regarding registration, please contact Associate Principal Pang Khang at pkhang@sunprairieschools.org or 608-834-6710.
2025 Keys To Success
Our 9th grade orientation program, Keys to Success will take place here at Sun Prairie East High School on Thursday, August 20, 2026 from 9:00AM - 11:00AM.
Incoming 9th graders will spend the morning connecting with their classmates, getting to know Sun Prairie East, and learning how to find success as a Cardinal! If you missed the registration for this event, your 9th grader can still attend, but transportation will not be provided.
Publication of Student Schedules
Student schedules will be published to infinite campus at 3:30 PM on August 14th. While students and families were emailed a list of classes in June, full schedules will be available on the 14th.
Construction Updates
Construction is continuing on our outdoor classroom on the south side of our building and next to our staff parking lot. Construction will be completed prior to the winter season.
*Please drive safely in these areas as we do have staff actively working on site to get these projects completed.
School Supplies
At the High School level we do not have a standard school supply list. Many teachers will let your students know of any specific materials they will need for class during the first couple of days. To start the year please have your student bring a notebook/s, pens/pencils and their Chromebook (more information on Chromebooks to come). Many students also benefit from having a binder/s to organize their materials.
Some specific class requests can be found on our website under the "Academics" section.
