THE LION WEEKLY REVIEW
RUSHVILLE CONSOLIDATED HIGH SCHOOL
WEEK 25
This has been another great week at RCHS. So many things have taken place during the annual FFA week and it was topped off with a lunch that FFA provided for the entire staff. I continue to get impressed with our students and what they do on a daily basis. I love our music department and want to give high praise to T.R. Campbell, Heather Campbell, and Dr. David Doyle. I love that our pep band ALWAYS shows up! Girls games, boys games, and tournament games. The boys Madrigals sang the National Anthem this past week at a basketball game. These three educators and our Ag department made up of Blair Orme and Holly Wagner do so many great things for our kids that go way beyond the classroom. Countless hours go into what they do. Hours that nobody sees or even knows about. I thank all five of you for your leadership and your willingness to do what you do for the kids. RCHS is blessed to have you in the family!

NEW PROGRAM
Criminal Justice
Rushville Consolidated High School is excited to offer our Criminal Justice program starting in the 2024-25 School year! This program will be housed at RCHS next school year and it will move off campus for the 2025-26 school year. Criminal Justice will be a two year program geared towards juniors and seniors. Next year, students will take two consecutive blocks of classes for the program at RCHS, Principles of Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement Fundamentals. During year 1 of the program, these classes will not be everyday. Due to the block schedule at RCHS, the classes will be every other day. Year two of the program will have classes everyday and will consist of Corrections and Cultural Awareness and the Criminal Justice Capstone Class.
Students that complete the Criminal Justice program will have opportunities for careers as:
Police Officer, Correctional Officer, Detective, Probation Officer, Private Investigator, Correctional Counselor, Security Guard, Bailiff, and many more.
INDIANA COLLEGE CORE AT RCHS
$$$$
19 RCHS students will be graduating with the Indiana College Core in the graduating class of 2024. This can equate to HUGE savings depending on where these students chose to go to school. Collectively, this could equate to over $800,000 worth of savings! Any Indiana public college (and now U Indy!) will accept the ICC as the general education block of courses! To find a rough estimate of savings, take the cost per credit hour and multiply it by 30!

SPECIAL SHOUT OUT
FFA
This week was FFA week and the Rushville members did a lot of fun things together such as movie night, Ag Olympics, and the District FFA Volleyball tournament. The one thing that sticks out to me among all of these things is the way these kids show appreciation for others and give back to those who have given so much to them. On Thursday the FFA provided lunch for all staff members of RCHS. They served Chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, and rolls all from Copper Kettle. They stood for three lunch periods and served any staff member who came in to eat. It was great to see staff coming together to eat and just visit with each other. This is what FFA is!! FFA is about leadership, serving others, giving back, and being a good human! Thank you Mr. Orme and Mrs. Wagner for instilling these characteristics into the kids of the Rushville FFA! Thank you to the kids who take the unprompted lead in these types of things because of what you have learned through this great program!
GREATNESS IN THE CLASSROOM
Junior English
Ms. Teague has been taking advantage of a few of the nice days we have had and ventured outside to teach a lesson on transcendentalist genre. When asked about it here is what she had to say.
My juniors have been studying the transcendentalist genre. We've been discussing Emerson and Thoreau and connecting the content and transcendental characteristics to more recent texts and modern day situations. To embrace our inner transcendentalist selves, we embarked out into nature and spread positive messages via quotes we painted on rocks. We hope children and adults alike will discover the rocks and continue to spread positivity as well.
