The Weekly Update in MAC

Weekly Recap
Happy Friday, and Happy New Year! What a week we have had! We dove into Unit 25 which talks about the past and present. We have been working hard! On January 28, the entire campus is going to CHHS to see the Seussical play! Please send the permission slips back as soon as you can. There are two sides to the form... please sign both sides. Mrs. Culpepper sent an email with more details, but please let me know if you have any questions.
Here is what we learned this week:
ULS - We are working in Unit 25: My Country: Yesterday and Today. This unit explores the past and present and how life in America was different long ago. Through stories and hands-on activities, students will recognize similarities and differences between things from today and things from the past. Also, students will explore organizing sequences of events.
- Unit Topic Words: different, first, last, long ago, next, now, past, present, same
Morning Meeting - The students love our morning meetings with Ms. Nicole and Ms. Tiffany! During this time, we are learning about the weather, seasons, and how to dress for the weather. We also discuss current topics in News2You and talk about all parts of the calendar. We sing songs about counting and learn about coins.
ELAR - This week, we read stories and answered questions all about the past and present! It has been fun to learn about how things we use today have changed over time. We built words and sentences, and focused on our vowels.
Math - This week, we worked on graphing and analyzing data. We also reviewed 2 dimensional shapes, practiced skip counting, and counting on from a specific number.
Social Studies - This week, we continued to learn about past and present, focusing on the vocabulary and identifying pictures of everyday objects used today versus what they looked like in the past.
Science - This week, we learned about how technology has changed - it was fun to see how computers and phones have advanced since I was even a kid!
Everyone is working on their goals and objectives. As your child masters an objective, they are moving to the next one! We are proud of last semester's work and excited to see the growth during this semester!
I hope everyone has a great three day weekend. We will see you on Tuesday!
