MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Franklin Community,
Back to School Night is on Wednesday, September 23rd from 6:30-8:30pm. Please join us to meet your student’s teachers and learn about all the support and resources that are available at Franklin. Click here for the Back to School Night schedule. Teachers will be working on quarter one progress reports this week. Be sure to check StudentVue and ParentVue to see your student’s grades. This week we have Tutorial/Flex on Wednesday and Thursday. Students, make sure to check StudentVue before then to see if you have been invited to flex by one of your teachers.
Earlier today I sent a message to the Franklin community regarding disturbing graffiti found in one of our bathrooms. In case you have not had a chance to read the message I have included it here. Please know that the safety of our students and staff is our number one priority. We are working with Portland Police Bureau and PPS Security Services to have increased presence on and around our campus regarding this incident. Let me know if you have any questions. My email is znaegele@pps.net.
Thank you,
Dr. Z
SCHOOL INFORMATION
Club Creation Time!
Do you want to start or continue a club at Franklin?
Club Creation Forms are available in the SUN Office SS-110. The SUN Club Fair is after school on Wednesday, September 30th.
PPS Rightsizing Community Engagement
As Portland Public Schools continues the rightsizing process, we are committed to creating multiple ways for our community to learn, ask questions, share perspectives and be heard.
Between September and December 2026, PPS will offer several types of engagement opportunities, including formal Public Listening Sessions with the Board of Education, informal Community Connections with select Board Directors, and dedicated Community Voice engagements for communities of color and families of students receiving special education services. Each opportunity may look a little different, but they share a common purpose: creating meaningful ways for community voices and experiences to inform the process.
We encourage all families to take a moment to read about the various community engagement opportunities and to find one or more that best meets your needs.
You can learn more and RSVP here.

FHS Groundskeeping Event
There's a patch of FHS grounds just north of the Center for the Arts that's in need of some love! The area needs quick de-trashing, weeding/pruning, and then woodchip spreading. Come be part of the beautification!
Sunday, September 27th, 9:00am-12:00pm
