North Little Rock 6 Academy of Agricultural & Veterinary Sciences welcomed back a true trailblazer, Mr. Gerald Persons, one of the legendary North Little Rock 6. Principal Larissa Harrison, Superintendent Dr. Gregory Pilewski, and former board member Ms. Angela Person-West led Mr. Persons and his family on a tour of the campus, showcasing the vibrant, inclusive learning environment that exists today because of the path he helped pave. The tour explored our modern learning environment and participated in a session facilitated by our partners at the University of Arkansas.
The preschool/elementary students are not the only students benefiting from this program. The high school Dance Troupe and Dance III/IV students enjoy the challenge of temporarily changing roles and becoming teachers and mentors to the younger artists. They choreograph and teach the original dances to the preschool/elementary dancers. It is a wonderful learning experience for all those involved in the workshop.
The North Little Rock High School Theatre Arts Department will present its spring dance concert on Thursday, April 30th at 6:30 PM featuring performances by the NLRHS Dance Troupe, Theatre Dance I-IV classes, and participants from the NLRHS Preschool/Elementary Dance Workshop in the new North Little Rock High School Performing Arts Center (201 West 22nd, NLR). Tickets are $6 for students/seniors and $8 for adults.
The workshop is $40 and includes quality dance instruction, snacks, t-shirt (to be worn in the dance concert), rehearsal notes, music, supplies for activities during the dance concert.
