Bus Cancellations
From time to time a school bus is cancelled. You can stay up to date on cancellations by downloading the Bus Status Alerts App, or by signing up Bus Status Alert emails for notifications on the Triboard website. Please note that if a bus is cancelled in the morning, it will not run in the afternoon either.
This Week is Bullying Awareness and Prevention Month
Students and Staff are Asked to Wear Pink on Friday, November 24
To recognize the importance of standing up against bullying and to always be kind, students are asked to wear pink tomorrow, Friday, November 24th. Our work to prevent bullying continues throughout the school year, through classroom discussions, and read alouds on the topic of anti-bullying and kindness. The JEDI Team also works to promote Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in our school throughout the year.
Giving Back to Our Community
Over the next few weeks R.G. Sinclair students will be celebrating the month of December by giving back to our community. The Student Leadership Team has organized several events. We hope that all our students will take part in the following activities:
Sinclair Angels
Sinclair Angels is an annual campaign, run by our students and supported by School Council, to provide baskets to families from our school community who may need an extra helping hand this holiday season. Sinclair Angels are available Nov 27th - Dec 8th. With every donation, students will place their name on an angel that will be on display on the bulletin board in the main hallway. There will be two ways for families to donate. The first is to use the cashless pay system, accessed through School-Day, where hot lunch is paid for, and permission forms are filled out. Please go to the Payment section and donate to Sinclair Angels. The second option is for the students to bring in money to the classroom. Each class has their own mason jar with a hole in the lid for the students to put their money in. Please consider donating to help our own Sinclair families enjoy a special holiday season and to become a Sinclair Angel!
Hat and Mitt Tree
The Hat and Mitt Tree, a Sinclair annual tradition, has returned. Children are asked to bring in a pair of mitts or a warm toque to place on our tree outside of the gym. These hats and mitts will provide our own students with some warmth when theirs are forgotten at home and some will also be included in our Sinclair Angels baskets for what is supposed to be a very long, cold winter.
Food Bank Drive and Jingle Bell Walk, Run, Roll
We will be collecting food for the Food Bank from Nov 27th– Dec 1st. Students can put their non-perishable food donations in the wrapped boxes in the front hall at any time over the next two weeks. On Dec 1st, each class will participate in a Jingle Bell Walk, Run, Roll at 12:30-1:15 p.m. and students are encouraged to wear festive hats, especially anything with bells on them, on that day! Local Media will be here on this day and teachers will follow the Freedom of Information requests while they are filming.
