LEWIS ELEMENTARY NEWS
January 7th 2026
"DID YOU KNOW?"
EVERY SCHOOL DAY COUNTS. “Did you know?” Our December Dip persisted in 2025. The percent of students with consistent attendance dropped from 87.7% down to 83.5% in December. That’s our lowest attendance so far in 2025-2026. The good news is it’s a new year and we have the opportunity to turn this trend around! January marks the half-way point in our school year and is a critical month for students to come to school every day they are healthy. Students in grades K-5 will take reading and math assessments to evaluate their progress since the fall. We want all of our students to feel confident and successful as they “show what they know” and each day they come to school moves them closer to that goal.

Todays memory:
Birdie was happy soul who moved through her short life with a smile and a wave for everyone she passed. She represented Lewis with her kindness; she could play with almost any student at school then transition seamlessly to sitting with her Moms friends and fitting right in. Her Mom and her brothers were her best friends.
"A hummingbird is sacred in many cultures, always symbolizing good luck, joy, and beauty."
