PSJA Education Foundation Mini Grants

The library was awarded two PSJA mini-grants.

$1,000 will go towards, "Expression through art" A collaboration between the library and the art department to provide a space for students to showcase their artistic designs in a widely used space. The art pieces created will be displayed in various areas of the library for visitors, staff, and students to admire.

$1,000 The Javelina book club would like to expand skills in the field of product design, marketing, and entrepreneurship. With this grant, I plan to prepare our students to be college and career ready with skills in product design, marketing, sales, and communication. The library will be collaborating with the CTE department for support and assistance.

Chinese New Year

Celebrating the Year of the Tiger!

The Javelina book club gave out red envelopes to bring in the Chinese New Year. Each red envelope had a coupon, good for one free hot cocoa. The assignment was to spread kindness and joy to our Javelina staff with a hot chocolate. This was a very enjoyable initiative for our students who spread kindness to many Javelina staff members.

National Puzzle Day - January 29

January 29 is National Puzzle Day, the perfect day to do a little brain exercise. Whether it's a crossword, jigsaw, or Sudoku, puzzles engage our brain in more ways than one. Scientists have discovered that when we work on a jigsaw puzzle, we utilize both sides of the brain, improving memory, cognitive function and problem solving skills in the process.

  • "For the love of reading" initiative where each student received three books to give away to any teacher or staff member.
  • Blind Date with a Book - Check out a wrapped book, relax and read.

This Valentines the Javelina book club spread love and kindness by giving out mini books of "If I Stay" by: Gayle Forman to anyone on campus. Blind Date with a Book Blind Date with a Book

Our February book display was an interactive Blind Date with a book theme.

Students had the opportunity to checkout a wrapped book, take it home, and unwrap it. Show it your favorite spots to read. If they hit it off, introduce it to friends. There won't be any awkward feelings if you don't like your date, but you might find the match of your literary dreams.
