Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back to another busy half term!
On Tuesday, we were delighted to welcome parents and carers into school for our OPAL Stay and Play session. We were also joined by our OPAL mentor, Jessica, who shared some brilliant insights into the program and answered questions about the importance of play.
The Blue Cross charity visited us on Wednesday to remind the children how to behave safely around dogs. They delivered a dedicated session for our Reception children, who were excited to meet Lois—who delivers the training—for the first time. This annual visit is a vital part of our risk assessment process, ensuring we can safely continue to have Bobbie in school with us.
Looking ahead to next week, Year 5 will be heading off to the YHA in Whitby! We are so excited for a few days of adventure and sightseeing, and we can’t wait to see their faces when they board the Big Yellow Boat.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend,
Mel Walmsley

Head Pupils
We’ve had a very busy week at Kirk Fenton.
On Monday year 6 had a poet come visit and they wrote poems about a train and these will be included in a poetry book! We're all very excited to see the finished book!
Next week, Year 5 has a residential so remember to pack! We're sure they will have an amazing time. Year 6 also has a practice SATs week next week, which will give them an idea of what it will be like in May.
It was lovely seeing you at the OPAL afternoon on Tuesday.
Head pupil awards go to Finley YR and Freddie Y6.
We hope you all had a good time at bonfire night yesterday and we hope you all enjoyed the fireworks! Enjoy your weekend.

Thanks to everyone who swung by and grabbed a doughnut at our Krispie Kreme sale last half term. You helped raise an amazing £296.65 and have given us a great start to fundraising this academic year.
On Wednesday 11th November, the Friends of Kirk Fenton are hosting our AGM and Christmas fair planning meeting at the Ash Tree pub from 7pm. Please come along if you can; you won't be expected to sign your life away, but we would really appreciate your support to enable us to host a bigger event like the Christmas fair. Without help, we just can't run these larger events. If you'd like to join our helpers' WhatsApp group, then please use the link below. Helping can mean anything from folding raffle tickets, setting up stalls, running a stall or tidying up.

Our fundraising aim is to buy a new set of Chrome books which is likely to be around £10,000. Please be mindful that if the company you work for has a 'match funding' policy then please consider volunteering for one of our events. This can really boost our fundraising figures and it could mean just an hour of your time at 1 event of the year.
As always, thanks for your support.
