BHMS Weekly Update

August 13, 2026
Dear BHMS Parents and Students,
As we wrap up our second week of school, I continue to be impressed by our amazing students! This week, students did an outstanding job completing STAR testing, approaching the assessments with focus and effort.
Throughout the week, I have had the opportunity to visit classrooms and see firsthand the high level of engagement taking place across our school. Even more meaningful have been the conversations I’ve shared with students during lunch. Hearing their excitement, perspectives, and experiences has truly been priceless.
We are off to a wonderful start, and I am incredibly excited about what lies ahead for us this school year. Thank you to our families for your continued partnership as we work together to ensure every student is seen, supported, and successful.
Here’s to another great week at Beacon Hill!
Respectfully,
Alexis Glenn

Highlights & Horizons
🏈 Flag Football Highlights: A Sensational Season Opener!
Our girls' flag football team kicked off the season on fire this Saturday, battling the heat to pull off two hard-fought victories!
Game 1 vs. Alpharetta (21–14 Win): Broke a late 14–14 tie with a clutch touchdown in the final minutes.
Game 2 vs. McEachern (Win): Executed an incredible late-game comeback featuring a last-second QB scramble into the endzone by Bell and a game-sealing sack in the final 35 seconds.
🌟 Player & Coach Shout-Outs
Our 8th Graders: A big shout-out to our 8th-grade leaders who were recognized for setting the tone and leading the team!
Coach Vickery & The Fans: Major thanks to Coach Shani Vickery and all the families and fans who braved the heat to cheer loudly and keep the team's energy high.
📅 Up Next: Catch the Bulldogs next Saturday at Blessed Trinity!
Think Fast, Build High! 🏗️
6th graders launched their science unit on the Scientific Process with the Marshmallow Challenge! After analyzing their collaboration styles, teams put their minds together to construct the tallest freestanding tower out of just 20 spaghetti noodles, tape, string, and a marshmallow.
Lots of laughs, brilliant engineering, and high-level teamwork—what a way to start science at BHMS! 🍝✨
Community & Safety: Sandy Hook Promise
To keep our campus safe, supportive, and connected, BHMS continues its partnership with Sandy Hook Promise through the Say Something Anonymous Reporting System (ARS).
This week, all BHMS students received refresher training on the Say Something ARS, reinforcing how to recognize warning signs, take concerns seriously, and report situations that may threaten the safety or well-being of themselves or others.
Recognize & Act: Students and staff are trained to recognize warning signs and concerning behaviors, whether they occur in person, online, or on social media, and understand the importance of speaking up.
24/7 Anonymous Reporting: Students can report safety concerns anonymously at any time through the Say Something ARS mobile app, website, or hotline.
See Something, Say Something: We encourage students to report concerns involving threats, bullying, self-harm, weapons, violence, or other behaviors that may put someone at risk.
Building a Culture of Safety: The program empowers students to look out for one another and reinforces our shared responsibility for keeping BHMS safe, supportive, and connected.
We encourage families to talk with their students about the importance of reporting concerning behaviors and remind them that speaking up can make a difference. Please click this link for more information.
