Panther Pride News is published weekly to keep all members of the school community informed and involved.

This has been an exciting week at Mears Middle School, especially for our 8th graders, who all participated in Welcome to Dimond High School Tours. Hosted by students in the DHS Student Government, Mears 8th graders had the opportunity to visit with high school students, teachers and staff, as well as tour their new campus and learn about its many exciting programs and activities. Special thanks goes out to DHS Student Leadership, along with all the staff from Mears and Dimond who supported our students on the tours. Go Panthers! Go Lynx!

The Anchorage School District's Fine Arts Department is proud to present the 51st annual student art show, in celebration of National Youth Art Month. Student work will be on display around our community March 3 - April 7, 2023. The opening reception will take place at the Anchorage Museum on Friday, March 3, 2023 from 6:00-9:00pm. Admission is complimentary to the public.

Reminder that the 8th (2023-2024) grade elective window closes today-March 3rd. Don’t worry if you didn’t complete it through student connect, students will have the opportunity to made changes in the counseling office. Thank you also to our 8th grade class who did an amazing job with their visits to DHS this week. Our students represented Mears in a positive and professional manner….we are very proud of them!

Students will not be able to enter any requests until the window opens March 6th. DHS counselors will be at Mears March 7th to do presentations and course selection.

The Read What You Want book club is still expanding. Want to talk about the book you are reading? Need suggestions for what to read next? Bring your lunch to the library on Tuesday to hang out and talk books. There is a meeting during each lunch, every Tuesday. Suggestions from last week (all first books in a series):
