Boyden Extended Day
Hello Boyden Families,
October was a busy month, here at Boyden Extended Day! During the AM and PM program, we have been spending some time outside to enjoy this great weather! Also, we started some fall crafts, such as creating pumpkins out of pipe cleaners. Also, students enjoyed making fall characters made of painted popsicle sticks.
In November, we are excited to continue completing our seasonal activities. Also, students in the morning and afternoon programs will begin making Thanksgiving cards for our First Responders.
Please remember that we are still collecting pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald house. The whole school is helping us collect them. Tabs can be from beverage cans, cat/dog food cans, or anything with the pull tab.
Elm Extended Day
Happy October! The first two months of school have been filled with fun! During the morning program, we are busy being creative. Students loved using their imaginations while making different creations with the corks and making paper fortune tellers. Also, we love listening to music and dancing to start our day!
During the afternoon program, we have been spending most of our time outside and we will continue to do so provided that the weather permits. Also, it has been great seeing that our new kindergarten students have quickly made new friends and are learning lots of new fun activities at Extended Day!
In the upcoming months the weather is going to get chilly. Please make sure that your student has warm clothing, as we will continue to spend lots of time outdoors.
Fisher Extended Day
Hello Fisher Families,
Welcome back to our monthly newsletter! The Extended Day team is looking forward to another exciting year! Back in September, we welcomed Mrs. I, Ms. Beth, Mr. TJ and Mr. Connor to the afternoon Fisher Extended Day team. The Extended Day staff have already come up with numerous fun and exciting activities for our students. Most recently, Mrs. I organized our first Extended Day concert of the year! During this activity, students designed paper instruments and came up with their very own song and dance. The name of the group was called the Blondy's and their performance was accompanied by the song "Green, Green Grass". The creativity was amazing and a fun time was had by all!
During the morning program, in addition to playing games in the cafeteria and in the gym, students enjoyed spending many mornings outside. Miss Lisa took the group for a nature walk around the building, where the students talked about all things related to autumn, such as the changing leaves and everyone's favorite seasonal fruits and vegetables. Before the end of the walk, they even stopped by the Fisher garden. In the gym, soccer has been the activity of choice for many students. Also, some of our other students created their own game called Safety Ball, which was quite creative. Additionally, during breakfast, Ms. Becky from the Fisher School cafeteria talked to us about nutrition. Extended Day students asked some great questions! Lastly, we are looking forward to painting pumpkins towards the end of the month.
Looking ahead towards November, we have a couple of announcements and reminders. Please remember that we will collecting pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House until the end of the school year. Also, we will continue offering homework time during Extended Day. Please send your student(s) in with extra pencils.
OPR Extended Day
Hello OPR Families,
OPR Extended Day AM/PM is excited to see familiar faces returning to Extended Day and also welcoming new faces and families to the 2024/25 school year! During the month of October, Morning Extended Day has been busy playing many card games, coloring and building tall towers. Also, Afternoon Extended Day has been very busy playing outside as much as possible, while spending time in the gym and the cafeteria at times. In addition to our continuous games of Gaga Ball and Football, we introduced a new game of Spike Ball, which the students have enjoyed.
During our afternoon announcements, we will continue with our show and shares, which encourages students to come up with their own creations using Extended Day toys or getting the group involved with a funny joke or riddle to solve. Additionally, legos, Barbie's and coloring have continued to be a huge hit. Also, our seasonal Halloween toys of stacking ghost cups and cat and ghost tik tac toe have been lots of fun. Ms. Bridget’s craft corner has also continued to be a big hit with a lot of hand painting creations and rainbow loom.
Returning again this year is the collection of pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald Foundation! OPR did a tremendous job collecting pop tabs throughout the entire year last year and we will continue to do it again! Let’s keep up the good work! Also, during the month of November, we will begin to collect for a canned food drive to help support the Walpole Food Pantry. Also, November will again be a movement motivation month, where we will be encouraging weekly fitness challenges, tournaments and a turkey trot for Extended Day.
Lastly, we have a couple of reminders. With the good weather, we will continue to go outside as much as possible. Please be aware of the large posters located on the school entrance which will notify families if Extended Day is located at the back playground or the Gym. If we are located at the front playground or the cafeteria, there will not be a sign posted. Also, on all early release days moving forward, food service will be providing bagels, sun butter and cream cheese for lunch. Students will also be provided with the option of our regular snacks and drink choices. Students are also welcome to bring in their own lunches if they don’t like the bagel option.
