Brandenberg Amethyst Crystal
open_in_new zoom_out_map

Day of the Dead Open House at GlowHouse on Saturday!

Thank you to everyone who joined us earlier this month to welcome the Brandenburg Amethyst Crystal to the GlowHouse. Rosa Diaz de Leon and Will Jones led us in song and ceremony, while artist Teralis shared his intent behind the crystal and light arrangement that now graces our space.

Join us on Saturday, November 1st for a GlowHouse Open House from Noon to 7pm!

Teralis will return to DC on to enhance the installation and be on hand to share his vision. Our Monthly Arts & Crafts Studio will happen from Noon to 4 PM!

Megan will curate this creative workspace for attendees — we’ll have supplies on hand, and you’re encouraged to bring your own projects and materials. Check out our newest addition, a 3D printer gifted by a neighbor!

Enjoy the Brandenburg Amethyst Crystal, connect with Teralis as he shares more about his vision, and soak in the lively, creative energy. We’ll have mulled wine, apple cider, and tea — and welcome contributions of food or drink. The hot tub may also be open for soaking and conversation!

Our Arts & Crafts Open Studio happens on the first Saturday of each month — a monthly ritual of creativity, connection, and community.

IFS-Informed Authentic Relating with Terry Baranski

When: Sunday, November 2nd

Time: 2pm to 5pm

Register here: https://www.healingtheself.net/groupevents/ifsar

Join Terry Baranski at GlowHouse in Washington DC! (This event is free for those on furlough.)

In this IFS-informed Authentic Relating workshop, Terry will provide a brief overview of Internal Family Systems (IFS), which is a revolutionary way of looking at the mind - as consisting of parts, rather than being a single thing - and getting to know ourselves in a deep/authentic way. We'll then split up into rotating pairs for various IFS-informed Authentic Relating exercises, which will explore a wide spectrum of our experiences: Anger, Connection, and Joy. These exercises will enable us to deeply relate to each other in a parts-aware way - by speaking to each other about our various parts, and allowing our parts to be truly heard and witnessed by another.

This location is metro accessible, and street parking is available. Seating is a mixture of couches and floor space - yoga mats are available for those on the floor.

Doors open at 1:45. Please give yourself extra time for DC-area commuting - we'd like to start the event promptly at 2:00. Allergy Note: There is a cat in the house.

---------------------------------------

Terry Baranski is an Internal Family Systems practitioner who works 1-on-1, with couples, and in groups, with people all over the world to address their mental health challenges. IFS is an approach to therapy and self-growth which offers a unique perspective on the mind - one that opens the door to self-compassion and self-understanding rather than judgment and shame. It's a wonderful technique to help us get in touch with our true selves, see the big picture, and get to know our minds in a more intimate way.

Authentic Relating with Mike Jadoo: Gaslighting

When: Thursday, November 13th, 7PM

Tickets: - see GlowHouse FB account for more details or Just come!

Authentic Relating: Unintentional Gaslighting — and What to Say Instead

Gaslighting doesn’t always come from a place of malice — sometimes it happens without us even realizing it. Yet even when unintentional, it can still create confusion, disconnection, and emotional harm.

Imagine telling a partner that the store was out of their favorite cereal when, in truth, we simply forgot to look and didn’t want to admit it. In that moment, our discomfort with honesty overrides connection — and unintentionally distorts reality for the other person.

Unintentional gaslighting can show up in many ways:

  • A friend trying to “cheer us up” but accidentally dismissing our feelings.

  • A parent offering “helpful advice” that subtly invalidates a child’s choices.

While there’s no ill intent, the impact can still leave the other person doubting themselves or feeling unseen. Over time, this pattern can deeply erode trust and damage relationships.

In this workshop, we’ll explore what unintentional gaslighting looks like, why it happens, and how we can respond differently. Through Authentic Relating games and principles, we’ll practice staying grounded in honesty, empathy, and curiosity — learning what to say instead to foster understanding and genuine connection.

Circling with Rebo: All Levels Circling

When: Thursday, November 20th

Time: 7pm, Doors open 6:45pm

Tickets are $15

Reserve yours by Venmo-ing @rebeccahassell

The goal of Circling is for a group of people to see the world through each other's eyes, and for you to see the world through other people’s eyes. We flourish under the influence of caring, curious, and non-judgmental attention – and so does the connection between us.

Your reflection is what you see in the mirror. To give someone a reflection is to tell them what you think they said – but like an old mirror, we often unintentionally shift, change, or distort their words. This is because our memories are imperfect, we may have expected them to say something different, or we might have leapt to a judgement without even realizing it. We don’t often reflect aloud, and so we reply based on what we think we heard, they reply on what they think we meant – and then we find ourselves in a confusing conversational funhouse.

At this all-levels circling session, we’re going to slow down and check in with what we think we heard and think the other person meant, with the goal of better understanding and intentionality.

This session is open to everyone, from first-timers to circlilng experts. If money is tight, please contact me for pay-what-you-can options.

About your facilitator:

Rebo Hassell is passionate about authentic communication and community building. These efforts have included the long-running Uncorked sex discussion series, the newly-launched Community Central groups in Brookland and Tysons, and circling..
