Important Update: Parental Consent for Google Additional Services
Bedford Public Schools currently uses and will continue to use Google Workspace for Education, which includes essential educational tools, such as Classroom, Docs, and Drive. We also provide access to some of Google’s Additional Services that enhance teaching and learning. Google now requires parental consent for students under 18 to independently use any of their Additional Services.
There are eight of Google’s Additional Services that students have access to as they support
differentiation, communication, collaboration and creativity while helping students to develop research, critical thinking, literacy, digital literacy and information literacy skills. These Additional Services are Google Translate, Google Earth, Google Maps, Google Books, Google Arts and Culture, YouTube, Google News and Google’s Applied Digital Skills. These interactive engaging tools
are independently used by students to support various learning styles and needs; supplement and/or
expand upon lessons and prior knowledge; deepen understanding of content; make real-world
connections to learning; and provide personalized self-paced learning opportunities.
Families must opt out in writing by Friday, March 14 by sending an email to their school
principal if they do not want their child to independently access these eight Additional Services.
It is not feasible to have families pick and choose among these tools, so you will need to decide
between consenting to all or none. Students whose families opt out will lose independent
access starting Friday, March 21. Teachers can continue to utilize these tools as part of their
instruction and can provide students access to some content for educational purposes.
For the 2025-2026 school year, parental consent will be included in the school handbook. Questions?

BHS Student Wellness Day
Wednesday, March 26
Wellness Day is a dedicated time to nurture social, emotional, physical, and mental well-being
for all students. Organized by Peer Leaders, this day is designed to foster connection, self-care,
and resilience through interactive stress relief, movement-based activities, and community
building. Our goal is to create a supportive and inclusive environment where students can
explore wellness strategies, reduce stress, and build a healthier, happier school
community—together.
Donations Needed for Student Wellness Day
The BHS Peer Leaders are excited to host Wellness Day, a special event dedicated to fostering social, emotional, physical, and mental well-being for all students. This day will feature interactive activities designed to promote stress relief, movement, self-care, and community building.
To make this day as impactful as possible, BHSPA is seeking donations to help fund activities engaging wellness experiences for our students. Your support will allow BHSPA to provide students with meaningful tools to manage stress, build resilience, and create a healthier school community.
If you’d like to contribute, please consider making a donation through the BHSPA. Every contribution—big or small—makes a difference!

Reminder: Cell Phone Practices
There has been an uptick in students with phones in the hallway and some empty phone holders in classrooms. We sent out the following message over the summer and are sharing again as a reminder as we enter the last half of the school year. The Cell Phone Committee is reconvening this week as we look to codify practices into policy for the 2025-2026 handbook.
For the 2024-2025 school year, all students in all grades will be required to place their cell phones in the storage stations. Seniors are no longer exempt. We are enforcing the “bell to bell, no cell” procedures.

Community Service Hours
Community Service hours are verified weekly/bi weekly at the end of each week.
When looking at your hours make sure the date under the number of hours on your MobileServe homescreen says "All Time". Also make sure you look at the pending hours as many of your hours might be there waiting for verification.
New requests for access to MobileServe are also processed once a week, usually on Fridays.
If you submitted a form and used the app last year, you have an active account and DO NOT need to submit another form. If you forgot your password please use the password recovery on the app.
Many answers to Community Service questions can be found here on the BHS website.
Parental Consent Forms are found here.
