A Common Language for Strategies
Make sure you have this poster hanging proudly in your class!
AVID requires national demonstration campuses to use a "common language" with AVID strategies. Our staff is rocking the use of strategies, this poster will help make sure we are all using the same name.
WHY AVID?
AVID is an elective class, but the AVID strategies are a system to help ALL students (AVID Scholars) close any opportunity gaps and teach them the skills to be successful.

Herd That!

Last year Haltom High School Seniors earned 8.6 million in awarded scholarships. AVID Scholars were awarded 4.2 million from that total! Currently AVID 85% of our AVID seniors led by Coach Swan have been accepted to at least one 4 year University, 100% of AVID seniors have applied to higher-ed, completed scholarship applications, have started the FAFSA process and/or have completed trade-school applications.
WICOR Walk Wednesdays!
Coach Holbrooks and AVID scholars want to spotlight all the great strategies happening at HHS. On Wednesdays we will randomly pop in classes to collect data on schoolwide AVID strategies being used. If there is a Wednesday where you are implementing a strategy and would like for us to stop by please send me a calendar invite and we will make sure to stop in and highlight you!
Professional Development
We (AVID) had an amazing time working with departments to showcase AVID strategies and help spark ideas on how you can best implement these in your class.
Philosophical Chairs
The Cowboys will win the Super Bowl!
