May's Must-haves
Dear DR Community,
Here's hoping that the many, many April showers will, in fact, result in May flowers. Please give your attention to these important updates.
Thank you for your support!
Together ... We Are DR!
Take care,
Bill
Staff Appreciation Week
Nationally, the week of May 6 is Teacher Appreciation Week. In addition to honoring our outstanding teachers, we also express our gratitude to all who are in service to our students in our district! Our PTO and PTSA do many nice things for the staff, but you can also make someone's day with just a short email message of kindness. Please consider reaching out to teachers, secretaries, paras, administrators, etc. to let them know how important they are!
DRiving Toward 2030 - Strategic Planning Update
DRiving Toward 2030
Finalizing the Strategic Plan - We're in the final stages of refining our strategic plan. Our team's hard work and dedication are paying off, and we're excited about the progress we've made. As we approach the finish line, we're confident in the direction we're heading and the impact our plan will have on our organization's success.
CTE MAVA Award
I am pleased to announce that a DRRHS Senior was recently named one of 50 outstanding CTE Scholars in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Dennis Correia, a senior at Dighton-Rehoboth Regional School High School has been in the Marketing program for four years. He is the major producer of content in the program.
Dennis has a number of original posters that he has designed for the high school Marketing program. He has completed a two-poster advertising set for the CTE office promoting Dighton-Rehoboth’s seven CTE Programs to the two middle schools and throughout our towns. Dennis has also developed the logo for the Falcons Nest school store and has been instrumental in producing banners with our newest wide-format printer.
Dennis is a two-sport athlete competing in Football and Basketball for the high school teams. He exhibits leadership qualities on the athletic fields and in the Marketing Program, taking on projects that require creativity and timeliness.
I am proud of Dennis; our Marketing teacher, Trish Madsen; and our CTE Department!

Specialized Programs
Specialized Programs blend academic learning with practical life skills, enriching student experiences. In our High School SAILS program, students delighted in selling beautifully decorated Easter cupcakes and now offer scrumptious Oreo treats for Mother's Day. DR MERITS Academy spread joy with Easter candy sales to staff, fostering a vibrant school community. Elementary and Middle School programs bring smiles weekly with popcorn sales to teachers. Students actively participate in every aspect of these classroom enterprises, empowering them with valuable entrepreneurial skills. Proceeds from these ventures not only support their learning but also fund exciting community visits, igniting a spirit of exploration and adventure.
Career Day in Kindergarten
I am delighted to inform you that the kindergarten inclusion classrooms at the Dighton Elementary School recently took part in Career Day. This engaging activity serves to complement their ongoing classroom project centered around creating a published class book exploring their aspirations for the future. During Career Day, the students enthusiastically engaged with various career-themed learning centers, further enriching their educational experience and broadening their understanding of potential career paths.
Wellness Committee
The Wellness Committee met on April 23. The committee discussed the breakfast menu offered by Whitsons. They were pleased that fruit is offered daily for breakfast and that fruit and yogurt parfaits are offered a couple times a week. The committee had a discussion on offering wellness activities to staff to gauge participation interest. If anyone is interested in joining the wellness committee, please contact Dr. DiGioia at mjdigioia@drregional.org. We continue to look for additional members and participation.
PreK Advisory
The PreK Advisory Committee convenes monthly to enhance the educational journey for our young learners. Currently finalizing a comprehensive handbook, they're ensuring coverage of program review, curriculum, and operational procedures. Excitingly, both PreK teachers in Dighton and Rehoboth will pilot the Wonders PreK curriculum following their upcoming training scheduled for this week. In addition to the handbook, they plan to include an FAQ document to address common queries. Their unwavering commitment remains on supporting holistic development and fostering a nurturing environment for all students.
