News from the Principal
Greetings WE Families,
It is amazing that we are approaching the end of the first semester and the wrap-up of 2025! Once December arrives, it always seems to fly by.
The students have completed the Universal Screener assessments over the last two weeks. It is always exciting to see how the students perform during this mid-year check-in. You will be receiving assessment information in your child's communication folder next week. It is always best to review the assessment information collectively rather than individually. Assessments are a window into what your child is showing us at this moment in time. The teachers use this information to make instructional decisions as we move forward into the school year.
Other important upcoming events:
December 19th: Community Circle - All invited
December 19th: Early Release
December 22nd - January 5th: Semester Break
January 6th - First Day of School for Students
From your very grateful principal,
Christine Knox

Westchester Crew Holiday Gifts
It’s December and, as we all know, one of the busiest times of the year! I wanted to take the opportunity to inform you that all of the Westchester Crew members will be receiving a holiday gift from the class funds (these are not associated with PTA as those are separate) that were collected earlier this school year. If your family wishes to gift any support staff members a gift this holiday season, then please refer to the staff list. Please note that this is always optional. Additionally, this list does not include the bus drivers and crossing guards.
Please reach out to Anne at annehaist11@gmail.com should you have any questions or concerns.
Wishing you all the happiest of holidays and the very best in 2026!
🎉 Westchester Wolves Celebration! 🎉
Our amazing Westchester students have been working hard and shining bright! Every day, they’ve been showing what it truly means to be responsible, respectful, and safe—whether it's in the classroom, the hallways, or out on the playground. Their positive choices have added up, and guess what?
✨ They earned a school-wide BINGO… AND a popcorn party! ✨
That’s right—thanks to their teamwork, kindness, and awesome behavior, the whole school gets to celebrate together. We’re so proud of our Wolves for proving that when we follow our expectations, great things happen!
Let the BINGO fun and popcorn munching begin! 🍿😄
Way to go, Westchester Wolves! 🌟
STAR Assessments
Dear Westchester Families,
During the week of December 8 through December 12, we will be administering the STAR Math, Early Literacy, and Reading tests. STAR is a computerized adaptive test that helps teachers, parents, and administrators improve learning for all students and make informed decisions to promote a child's academic growth. Students take the STAR tests in the fall, winter, and spring. By taking it three times a year, teachers and parents are able to see how their student is growing in the areas of reading and math throughout the school year. We will use this data to help us make informed instructional decisions for our students. The tests will be administered by classroom teachers and proctors in their classrooms. STAR family reports will be shared at the end of December.
If you have any questions please reach out to our Instructional Coach Christie Manasso at cmanasso@csdecatur.net .
Extended until 12/18!
