National Honor Society Induction

Forty students were inducted into the National Honor Society on November 1st. Inductees are juniors and seniors who have met the minimum GPA requirement, highlighting their scholarship. They have also shown their excellence in the other three pillars of NHS: leadership, character and service. They will continue to give back to the community as new members and will complete 25 additional hours of community service, including tutoring peers, planning food drives, and hosting our Red Cross Blood Drive in March this year.

Rebels Receive the Prestigious Michaels Jewelers Achievement Cup!

Our Class Act Council, a group of student-athlete leaders, has worked hard to increase sportsmanship and respect on the fields, courts, pools, and courses where the Rebels compete, as well as in the school community.

The Michaels Jewelers Achievement Cup exists to honor CIAC member schools that provide exemplary athletic programs.

We are proud to have achieved this honor, and have the hard work of our student leaders recognized! This is only the second time our school has achieved this high honor, and is the first time in over twenty years.

The Cup was created in the early 1980s as the brainchild of Roy Michaels, the owner of Michaels Jewelers, in an effort to recognize outstanding athletic programs. In 2008 CIAC began direct oversight of the program. Then in 2017, the focus of The Cup transitioned to honoring schools for their commitment to sportsmanship.

The Michaels Jewelers Cup honors exemplary athletics programs for their willingness to subscribe to the Class Act Sportsmanship standards, empowering students to take an active role in their school climate and their continued support for community service.

The Class Act Council was recognized at the November 2nd Board of Education Meeting.

Bridget Mangan, Deanna Berardo, Caitlyn Rea, and Kaitlyn Mangan represented the council, and are pictured below with BOE Chair Mr. Dominic Cipollone, Vice Chair Mrs. Samantha Mannion, and Athletic Director Mr. Mark Ottusch.

These visits are not permitted until after school hours and should be arranged in advance with the teachers or staff.

Please let your graduates know that we are happy to see them, but not until we complete the school day with our current students.
