Beneke Blast
January 9, 2026-January 16, 2026
Happy New Year Parents,
We hope you and your family had a wonderful holiday season and are ready for the new year and new semester.
As we begin this semester, students are entering the final phase of preparation for their end-of-year STAAR assessments. We have only 56 instructional days before STAAR testing begins in April. Beginning Monday, January 12, students will participate in additional interventions and tutorials throughout the school day. Some students will also be assigned additional work and homework outside of the school day to support their learning.
We ask for your support by ensuring your child attends school every day and arrives on time so they can benefit from these interventions. Additionally, we kindly request that early pickups be limited to emergencies only, as students miss valuable instruction and intervention time when leaving early.
Students in 3rd–5th grade will also participate in their final STAAR practice exams during the week of February 2–6. A detailed schedule of practice and testing dates is included below.
Today you will receive your child’s report card. Please take time to review grades with your child and contact the teacher if there are concerns related to failing grades or low assessment results. You may also receive communication from your child’s teacher if your child has been selected to attend after-school tutorials.
We appreciate your continued partnership and support as we work together to prepare our students for success. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child’s teacher.
The campus will be closed to visitors during district and state testing!

Nominate a Spring ISD Employee
Dear Spring ISD Family,
Looking to celebrate a Spring ISD employee? Now’s your chance! You can nominate anyone serving in the district—be it a teacher, custodian, secretary, clerk, mechanic, bus driver, librarian, nurse, or counselor—for the Employee Excellence Award and honor their outstanding contributions.
Awarded by the Spring ISD Board of Trustees, this recognition honors employees who exemplify the district’s guiding principles, core values, and embody the attributes outlined in our Leadership Definition. Each month during the school year, one employee is selected, and from these honorees, a grand prize winner will be announced at the Spring ISD Employee Recognition Banquet in May. The only employees not eligible for this award are Senior Leadership Team members and members of the Board of Trustees.
We’re looking for employees who are bringing the Spring ISD mission to life and helping us reach each and every Spring ISD student. To nominate them for the Spring ISD Board of Trustees Employee Excellence Award, complete the online recognition nomination form.
A successful nomination will include as much detail as possible to describe why the person should be considered for an award. For more information, click here.
Wells Middle School
Parents/Guardians/Students,
Wells MS counselors are excited to help you choose your elective courses for your first year in middle school!
My name is Shonda Johnson and I will be your 6th grade counselor once you begin here as a Wells Wolverine. Ms. Donna Joubert is the 8th grade counselor here at Wells. We will be working together to ensure you have a smooth transition from elementary school to middle school. We will be visiting each of your campuses over the next few weeks to introduce ourselves and share with you what Wells has to offer.
We have created and linked a Google Form to this email that serves as your course selection for 6th grade. The form explains Wells required courses and the choices for electives, and allows an easy way for you to make your choices and have a parent/guardian sign off on them.
Please click on the link below and complete the form so that we can place you in the electives of your choice.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me via email @ sjohns21@springisd.org.
Thank you for your time.

Honored Schools
Honored Schools Launches January 12!
We’re excited to share that our school is partnering with Honored Schools, a program that celebrates the incredible teachers who make a difference every day. Beginning January 12, 2026, students and families can visit HonoredSchools.org to share a story about a teacher who has impacted their life.
Each “Honor Story” will be shared directly with the teacher and featured on Honored’s national Honor Roll. At the end of the year, 2-6 teachers in our region will receive the Honored Schools Life-Changing Teacher Award, which includes a $2,500 prize.
Keep an eye out for flyers coming home next week—and thank you for helping us spread the warmth this winter by recognizing our amazing educators!
