Commercial Real Estate Trip, June 18!
This summer, Project Next is inviting students on an epic adventure into the realm of commercial real estate! In cahoots with CREW San Diego, we’re rolling out the red carpet for a VIP tour of North City, the buzzing new hotspot in the heart of San Marcos. Students will get the inside scoop from a panel of six industry pros—perfect for those burning questions—before strapping on hard hats to explore two dazzling twelve-story buildings in the making.
College Exploration Trip with Project Next!
This summer, you'll have the chance to visit four incredible campuses: Mira Costa TCI, UC Irvine, Cal State Long Beach and Point Loma Nazarene University. Transportation is free - just bring your own lunch (except the Mira Costa TCI visit), wear comforable walking shoes, and get ready to explore what your future could look like! Don't miss out on this opportunity to see these schools up close.
The bus will depart from San Marcos High School at 8:30 am each day.
🗓️ Choose your visits(s):
- Friday, June 20 | Mira Costa TCI
- Monday, June 23 | UC Irvine
- Tuesday, June 24 | Cal State Long Beach
- Wednesday, June 25 | Point Loma Nazarene University
Students from ALL high schools are welcome to attend. Students may attend any or all visits!
Library End of Year Announcements
Seniors received an email from the MHHS Library/Textbook Office on May 1st that listed all of the items and fines on their library accounts. Seniors must return all items listed and pay for any fines on their library accounts no later than Monday, June 9 to receive their graduation tickets. All students will have scheduled class time the week before finals to return textbooks. Outside of these class visits, students are responsible for turning in items on their own time.
Returning students will KEEP their school-issued Chromebook and charger over the summer for use next year. Returning students must turn in their textbooks by the last day of school (Wednesday, June 11).

Attendance Information
FINALS WEEK ATTENDANCE PASSES
WE DO NOT DELIVER OFFICE CAMPUS PASSES TO CLASS DURING FINALS.
In an effort to not interrupt any final exams, please try to refrain from pulling your student out of school during finals. We know that there may be a situation in which you must pick up your child early. If so, please call our office early enough so that your student can pick up their pass prior to class beginning, or during the nutrition break..
MESSAGE FROM THE ATTENDANCE OFFICE
Hello Grizzly Families!
As we continue to navigate this school year, we want to take a moment to remind both parents/guardians and students about our attendance procedures.
If your student was marked absent in error, please have your student contact the teacher. The teacher must then email or call the Attendance Office with the correction. Your student is responsible for speaking to the teacher to clear these absences.
If you are aware that your student will be late to school for any reason, we do ask that a parent/guardian give us a call BEFORE your student arrives to school or the student must provide a Doctor/Dental note at the window upon arrival. Please be sure that your student checks in either with the Attendance Window or with a Campus Supervisor stationed in the student parking lot. By having them check in, we are able to get their time of arrival and excuse the classes they may have missed.
If your student is leaving early, we do ask that a parent/guardian call the Attendance Office at least 1 HOUR BEFORE the time the student is needed.
If you are calling during normal business hours, and reach the voicemail, it is because we are on another line or helping a parent/student at the window. PLEASE LEAVE A MESSAGE at 760-290-2705 / 760-290-2715 / 760-290-2716 .. Voicemails are retrieved regularly throughout the day. Please be aware that the Attendance Office does not call back unless more information is needed. Please refer to the MHHS website for additional information, regarding Attendance.
Information Worth Repeating
Residency Verification will begin on June 2, 2025!
Residency verification, or re-enrollment for current students, will begin on June 2, 2025.
All current SMUSD families must complete the 2025-2026 residency verification process in order for continuing students to be properly registered for the next school year. If your student is transitioning to a middle or high school next year, the residency verification process will automatically register your child at the designated middle or high school based on your home address. Residency verification is an annual process completed digitally via ParentVUE. Only one ParentVUE account is required to complete this process for all students in your home. Therefore, families with multiple children will submit one residency verification for all students living in the same household. Please note this process is for CURRENT STUDENTS ONLY.

NJROTC program
Did you know that MHHS is bringing in an NJROTC program for the very first time?
Looking for a way to develop leadership skills and self-discipline? Interested in learning about military careers, health and first aid, fitness, nutrition, and survival skills?
This would be a class on your schedule, during the regular school day. It will count as PE credit, or as Elective credit. When applying to UC and Cal State universities in the future, the NJROTC course would also meet the A-G requirement for Section G: College Prep Elective.
Want to add the class to your schedule for '25-'26? Have questions? Contact: Stephanie Brizeno, Future Ready Counselor, stephanie.brizeno@smusd.org
