CTE Month: Celebration of Dual Credits
It’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month, and we are celebrating dual enrollment and transcripted credit from CTE courses. Moraine Park Technical College provided these amazing statistics related to high school dual credit courses that East and West students took in the 2024-2025 school year from Moraine Park:
35 dual credit courses
935 enrollments
2,311 college credits earned
11 credentialed WBSD teachers
$381,195 in tuition savings
Transcripted courses are Moraine Park Technical College courses that are taught by high school teachers using technical college curriculum and textbooks. Credit earned may be transferred to another Wisconsin Technical College and four-year university.
Read more about all dual enrollment opportunities in the high school Course Planning Guide.

Discuss Social Media Trends with Children
The West Bend Schools have received information on a social media trend called “mogging.” The term “mog” is used to convey judgments in physical appearance, fitness, or status. However, “mog” can be used to make someone feel like they don't “measure up.” Teens also often use it to “rate” their teachers.
Another social media trend that is proving to be hurtful and intrusive to students is “(insert school name) ships.” This involves sharing speculation about students who may or may not be in a relationship.
While some may have intended these as humor, certain posts could have been perceived as threatening or intimidating. Students who participate in this may be in violation of expected school rules and district policies, including anti-bullying. There are consequences of making any real, perceived, or joking threat to other people on social media.
Please speak with your children about safe and kind usage of social media. In addition, if you or your children see or hear anything threatening, please call law enforcement or 911 immediately. The West Bend School District also uses two tiplines. In addition, below is information on controls for social media:

High Schools Configuration
Since 1970, West Bend has been home to East and West High Schools, located on a shared campus and currently serving 1,818 students. After the approval of the November 2024 referendum, the West Bend School District has been examining what high school configuration will best serve our students, staff, and community in the years ahead.
Hearing from a wide range of voices has been central to this process. The district made intentional efforts to reach students, families, staff, and community members through multiple channels:
Two open community meetings, drawing 65 total attendees
Focus groups were conducted with students and staff at both high schools and Badger Middle School. Additionally, district staff continue to visit the schools during lunch hours to gather informal feedback directly from students.
A survey distributed through family and student emails, social media, and newsletters generated 2,588 responses, including 811 from students.
The district reached the broader community through multiple press releases resulting in print, digital, and television coverage, social media posts, two issues of the City of West Bend e-newsletter, and a dedicated page on the district website housing all details and updates.
All feedback gathered through these engagement activities will be synthesized and presented to the West Bend School Board for discussion on March 9. The board may take action on the configuration at its March 23 meeting.
Still want to share your thoughts? If you would like your feedback included in the synthesis presented to the board, please email your thoughts to wbsd@wbsd-schools.org. All emailed responses will be incorporated alongside the survey, focus group, and community meeting feedback.
