Message from the Principal

Greetings Findley Community~

Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to meet with our teachers during this recent round of Parent-Teacher Conferences. It was wonderful to see our hallways and classrooms buzzing with collaborative energy. Conferences are more than just a check-in on grades; they are the foundation of the school-home partnership. Research consistently shows that when parents and teachers work together, students feel more supported, engaged, and confident in their learning. We are so fortunate at Findley to have such engaged families.

With so much happening as we head into the end of the school year, please keep a close eye on communications from your child’s teacher. Staying updated ensures your student is prepared for the many exciting (and important) events ahead:

  • OSAS Testing (3rd–5th Grade): Our upper elementary students will be showing what they know this month. Please check classroom updates for specific testing schedules to ensure your student arrives well-rested and on time.

  • Field Trips: ‘Tis the season for off-campus learning! Watch for permission slips and specific "day-of" requirements (like sack lunches or walking shoes) in your inbox.

This week, we are taking the time to celebrate and honor the hard work, heart, and long hours our teachers pour into every lesson and every student. From creating optimal classroom environments, navigating the complexities of student learning, and this time year, organizing memorable field trips, our teachers go above and beyond each and every day to create a supportive and inspiring environment at Findley. They are the backbone of our school-home partnership, and we are so lucky to have them. Please join me in showering them with appreciation!

With Gratitude,

Sherry Marsh, Ed.D

Safe Routes Survey - Parent Input

It’s data collection time again for Beaverton’s Safe Routes to School program. The purpose of this program is to make walking and biking to school safe, convenient, and fun.

Parents’ and guardians’ input into how students travel to and from schools and their impression of the safety of the route is valuable as the city and county prioritize needed improvements for our roads.

The following links will take you to a district survey and will be combined with classroom tallies to give us a good picture of how students get to and from schools throughout the district.

The district survey will be open for responses for approximately four weeks from May 1st until May 31st. We appreciate your assistance providing us information to make the Safe Routes to School program effective for all Beaverton School District students.

Bike To School Week-May 4th-8th

Be sure to fill up your child's tires this weekend so that they can participate. Get your student excited to ride: throughout the week we will have a “bike fairy” leaving prizes on any wheels in the school bike racks and some schools are organizing 'Bike Buses,' where supervised students ride to school from a meeting point.

We hope that you join in on the fun and use this as a chance to show your child how enjoyable active transportation can be!

And just in time for bike week... And just in time for bike week...

Lower Parking Lot Safety

Parents & Caregivers,

If you are picking up your child in the car pick up lane you must drive to the pick up area that is past the 2nd crosswalk (Note the pink star on the map). Students should not be encouraged to wait at the east end of the lot as there is not supervision and it is not safe. All students for car pick up need to be at the far west end of the lot on the other side of the crosswalk. Thank You!

Sparky's Steps to Safety

Sparky invites you to show our community that a safe crossing is the best crossing. Follow the footprints to designated street corners and avoid crossing midblock. Teach others how to stay safe while walking to and from school.
