The Weekly Buzz
From Palmer River Elementary School
September 12, 2025
Dear PRES Families,
Week two is officially in the books—and what a fantastic week it was! We were thrilled to welcome our PreK students to the PRES community on Monday for their very first day of school! The building was filled with excitement, curiosity, and lots of smiles as our youngest learners began their educational journey. They are already bringing so much joy to our halls, and we are looking forward to a year filled with growth, learning, and fun!
Friday brought our first district-wide spirit day: Because Kids Day! This special day is all about recognizing what drives our work each and every day—amazing children. Students arrived in their PRES green and gold gear, and staff proudly wore their Because Kids #WeAreDR shirts to show our shared commitment to making school a place where every child feels seen, valued, and celebrated.
We’ve included some photos below capturing the incredible school spirit and energy that filled our building today. It’s clear that PRES is a place where community, pride, and student-centered learning come together!
Thank you for your continued support in making the start of the school year such a success. We are so excited for all the adventures ahead. Wishing you and your family a restful and joyful weekend.
We’ll see you next week!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kristine Kefor, Principal & Mrs. Cassey Monte, Assistant Principal

The flyer below outlines the six opportunities available for students to participate in. In the coming weeks, a Google Form will be sent to students so they can indicate the programs they are interested in.
Please note:
-
All programs will take place during fourth-grade recess.
-
A schedule will be shared with teachers and students indicating when each program will meet.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Cassey Monte.
Greater Attleboro Council for Children
The Greater Attleboro Council for Children has generously provided backpacks filled with school supplies. If your family could use a backpack or just some extra supplies, please feel free to reach out confidentially to your building principal—we’ll make sure you get the support you need.
Bus Route Update
Parent Square
If you haven’t already, please take a moment to sign up for ParentSquare—our primary communication platform for staying connected with your child’s school!
What is ParentSquare?
ParentSquare is a secure, easy-to-use platform that allows schools and teachers to send important updates, event reminders, forms, and messages straight to your phone or email—all in one place. You can also communicate directly with teachers, RSVP to events, and stay informed about your child’s education.
Aspen Permissions
Our student information system has a section called "Permissions" that needs to be completed by all new families, and reviewed by returning families. Please be sure to log into your Aspen account and select your "Permissions" for each of your children.
🐝The Buzz from the Health Office 🐝
Hello Families,
I hope everyone had a restful and healthy summer! As we start the new school year, I’d like to share some important health updates and reminders from the nurse’s office.
September is Lice Prevention Month
Head lice are common among school-aged children and are spread mainly through direct head-to-head contact — not poor hygiene. Let’s work together to prevent lice in our school!
Prevention Tips:
Avoid sharing hats, brushes, combs, and headphones
Keep long hair tied up in braids or ponytails
Check your child’s scalp regularly (behind ears and at the neck)
What to Look For:
Itchy scalp or frequent scratching
Small white/yellow eggs (nits) attached to hair shafts
Tiny bugs crawling in the hair
If you find lice, please notify the school nurse so we can reach out to your child's classroom if we find a cluster. Below you will find the Massachusetts Department guidelines for lice.
