Welcome to a brand new school year at SFJHS! As we begin, remember the powerful quote from Jackie Robinson that said “A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives.” With a new year comes new focuses and goals, and together we can make this year one of growth, kindness, and connection. Let’s each set a goal to make a positive impact in one another’s lives, because when we strengthen each other, we strengthen the entire Lobo Pack.

As a reminder we will be participating in our Lobo R&R this school year. With this, we encourage you to remind your student about bringing a book to read, or making sure they have something ready for R&R days on Wednesday and Friday this week. If you are needing to check out a book, English classes will be working on this from the library and would be happy to help ensure each student has reading material. We look forward to having this reset and hope this time will offer a mental recharge for all.

School Fees School fees may be paid online at My School Fees. Other items, such as the Chromebook Protection Plan and yearbooks, can also be paid through My School Fees under “optional fees.” All credit card transactions, whether in person or online, will incur a $2 fee as directed by district finance policy.

Just a reminder now that Chromebooks have been passed out an optional Chromebook Protection Plan is available for $30. This will cover the initial cost of a lost or damaged chromebook. We encourage parents to purchase the Chromebook Protection Plan in case of loss or damage. The cost to replace a chromebook is $300. This fee will be assessed to the student in the event of a lost, stolen or damaged chromebook. The Chromebook Protection Plan can be paid for online through myschoolfees.com long with all other fees listed under “optional fees.” Additional information regarding the Chromebook Protection Plan coverage is located on our website at https://sfjhs.nebo.edu/content/parent-and-student-information. We encourage purchasing the protection plan.

Just a few attendance reminders:

If you’re leaving school, your parent or guardian will need to check you out at the front office. Remember if you leave campus WITHOUT properly checking out you will be marked as a sluff. During lunch time we must have a parent come into the office to physically check out their child in order to ensure only the correct students are being checked out to the right guardians. If your smiling face never makes it school, please remember to have a parent or guardian call and excuse your absence within two days.

Missing or being tardy to class can prevent you from participating in school activities like school dances, end of term rewards, and rewards at the end of the school year.

One Tardy = 15 Minutes of Detention

One Sluff (skipping class) = 45 Minutes of Detention

3 Hours of Detention = No School Activities

Detention will be served on a student's OWN time by working with one of THEIR teachers before or after school.

• Unserved detention will result in further disciplinary action and loss of privileges for other school activities.
• Other consequences may include: Not being eligible for participation in extracurricular activities. This includes: athletics, field trips, dances etc.
• It is the responsibility of the student to make up any detention that would disqualify them from school activities.

DoorDash is convenient, but is NOT approved on campus. Orders will begin being sent away as it is too hard to keep track of who's order is who's. To easily change this issue, we are going back to the original approach of NO DOOR DASH deliveries to the front of the office. We appreciate your help in this matter.

This week we will be participating in Love Like Loveless week to honor our former principal Mr. Chris Loveless.

Each day we will be participating in lunch activities and a new kindness challenge. Come together and play games, dance, draw, and sing with all your friends! On Friday, we are having a total black out! Wear black as we party at the assembly!

Picture Day is coming on Wednesday, August 27!

You can place your order on mylifetouch.com using your Picture Day ID: EVTDVX3F8. Order before midnight on Picture Day to get FREE shipping!

Your child can also bring their completed flyer with cash or check on Picture Day. Orders after Picture Day must be placed online only on mylifetouch.com. Be ready to bring your best smiles and remember NO HATS will be allowed in the photos.

Just a friendly reminder that we will be enforcing the new cell phone policy as well as the district policy on dress code. If you could ensure this is being followed we would greatly appreciate it! The referrals will begin in the office this week, along with our new cell phone policy. We hope and greatly appreciate to have your support in these matters.

Want to join cross country here at SFJH? This is a great opportunity to get in shape for another sport, make new friends, and set goals. Come to the information meeting this Wednesday, August 20th, in Coach Call's room at 2:45. If you have any questions or want to get your packet early to get a head start on your sports physical, talk to coach Call or Coach Layman today!

Students: We are in need of a few students to come be a lunch worker during first lunch. If you have first lunch, we need your help! Just show up at the kitchen door in the cafeteria about 5 minutes before your lunch starts, and we’ll put you to work. You’ll get a free lunch on the same day that you help serve. Thank you!
